3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Introduction to Metrology: metrology and its relationship with quality systems in industry

Unit 1. Introduction to Metrology. Facets of metrology. Metrology applied to industry. Traceability.

Unit 2. Legal metrology. National Metrology Organization.

Unit 3. Quality management systems in the industry. Regulations related to metrology.

Practical Lecture 1. Basic metrological concepts. Causes of error in measurements.

Practical Lecture 2. Use of dimensional metrological instruments.

Results 31, 32 and 33.

 

Calculation and expression of measurement uncertainty.

Unit 4. Statistical concepts. Approach to the expression of uncertainty

Unit 5. of Variances propagation law. Model direct measurement and sum of contributions to uncertainty.

Unit 6. Evaluation of type A and type B uncertainties

Practical Lecture 3. Longitudinal Gage Blocks. Calibration of outside micrometers set.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Theoretical Lectures (Competences CB2R and CT3)

Exposition of the subject by formal discourse in Spanish. It is open for international students. Tutorial support, bibliography, and multimedia resources are available in English (3 h per week). Evaluation of the results:  31, 32 y COPT1R

 

Classes in small group (CB2R, CT1, CT2 and CT4)

Practical sessions in laboratories and in computers room (10 h). Evaluation of the results:  31, 32, 34 y COPT1R

 

Group Tutorials (DB2R and CT4)

Discussions and debates about the subject by mean of a forum on the course Virtual Teaching site. Evaluation of the results:  33, 34, 35 y COPT1R

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Evaluation tools:

S1: Attendance.

S2: Exam.

S3: Course exercises, student works and presentations.

S4: Practical lectures.

Grade.

The tools described below allow the assesment of learning outcomes 31 to 35 and the COPT1R in addition to the CB2R, CT2, CT3 and CT4 competencies.

If S2 is greater than or equal to 5, then

Grade = 0.1·S1 + 0.5·S2 + 0.2·S3 + 0.2·S4

Otherwise:

Grade = S2

DATA PROTECTION CLAUSE (on line exams)

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. In order to avoid frauds while sitting the exam, the exam will be answered using a videoconference system, being able the academic staff of the University of Jaén to compare and contrast the image of the person who is answering the exam with the student's photographic files. Likewise, in order to provide the exam with evidential content for revisions or claims, in accordance with current regulation frameworks, the exam will be recorded and stored.

Legitimacy: compliance with legal obligations (Universities Law) and other national and regional regulations currently in force.

Addressees: service providers who are the owners of the platforms where the exams are carried out and with whom the University of Jaén has signed the corresponding data access contracts.

Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above. In the event that you consider that your rights have been violated, you may submit a complaint to the Andalusian Council for Transparency and Data Protection www.ctpdandalucia.es
