4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Default teaching session language will be Spanish. These sessions are structured in:

  • theoretical sessions, where learning contents are developed and illustrative examples are shown
  • practical sessions to solve exercises on the board and also by using a statistical software.

Tutorial support sessions, bibliography, additional materials and exams will be available in English. Exchange international students electively can join regular course in Spanish whenever they wish.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The assessment procedure consists of:

  • A writing exam with theoretical and practical exercises (80%). It will be necessary to obtain a minimum of 3.5 points out of 8 in this exam.
  • A continuous evaluation of the practical sessions in which the proposed exercises will be solved by using a statisitcal software (20%). The qualification obtained in this part in the ordinary call, will be saved for extraordinary calls.

45 master classes. Theoretical sessions will deal with the contents of the syllabus, through the explanation, illustration and exemplification of concepts. They will be supported by the electronic material that students will find in the virtual teaching space for the subject.

Practical and computer teaching sessions

Face to face (50-100%). It depends on the final number of student enrolled in the subject and the classroom capacity.

15 practical sessions to solve exercises on the board and also by using a statistical software.

ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Ordinary call

The assessment methodology consists of:

  • Theoretical-practical exam. The total value of this part will be 80% of the final mark.
  • Continuous evaluation of the computer skills by means of tests in which the proposed exercises will be solved by using a statisitcal software. The total value of this part will be 20% of the final mark.

The qualifications obtained in the computer practices will only be considered for the final mark if the student obtains 3.5 points or more out of 8 in the theoretical-practical exam.

The student who does not take the theory exam (80%) will be classified as "No Presentado" (not presented).

Extraordinary call

The qualifications obtained in the part of computer practices (20%) in the first ordinary call will be saved for the extraordinary calls.

During the development of the exams the student must be identified at all time through GSutie Meet (with camera and microphone connected.

Ordinary call

  • Theoretical-practical exam that will be conducted virtually and synchronously at the official call. The total value of this part will be 80% of the final mark. 
  • Continuous evaluation of the computer skills by means of online tests in which the proposed exercises will be solved by using a statisitcal software. The total value of this part will be 20% of the final mark. 

The qualifications obtained in the part of computer practices will only be considered for the final mark if the student obtains 3.5 points or more out of 8 in the theoretical-practical exam.

DATA PROTECTION CLAUSE (on line exams)

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. In order to avoid frauds while sitting the exam, the exam will be answered using a videoconference system, being able the academic staff of the University of Jaén to compare and contrast the image of the person who is answering the exam with the student's photographic files. Likewise, in order to provide the exam with evidential content for revisions or claims, in accordance with current regulation frameworks, the exam will be recorded and stored.

Legitimacy: compliance with legal obligations (Universities Law) and other national and regional regulations currently in force.

Addressees: service providers who are the owners of the platforms where the exams are carried out and with whom the University of Jaén has signed the corresponding data access contracts.

Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above. In the event that you consider that your rights have been violated, you may submit a complaint to the Andalusian Council for Transparency and Data Protection www.ctpdandalucia.es
