The TFM will be focused on a research problem related to the subjects of the Master's programme.
-
Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support
Assessment and Marking of the TFM
S5 includes both the evaluation of the TFM report and the presentation and debate before a panel of experts.
The percentage of assessment assigned to each part is 70% and 30% respectively. These are detailed below:
Evaluation of the report (70%):
Structure and format. Correct grammar and spelling = 1 point.
Quality of content, original approach, development, coherence
and updating = 5 points.
Knowledge and use of relevant and updated bibliography in
relation to the selected topic = 1 point.
Evaluation of the presentation and defence (30%):
Clarity and order in the presentation; mastery of the content
and presentation of the main contributions of the work = 2 points.
Verbal and non-verbal communication. Reasoned response to the
questions posed by the assessors = 1 point.
The panels will be composed of three PhD members.
The tutor may not be a member of the examining board.
Once the examination has been completed and after
deliberation by the examining board, the paper will be graded. The
grade will be awarded on a numerical scale from 0 to 10, to one
decimal place, to which must be added the corresponding qualitative
grade: 0 to 4.9: Fail; 5.0 to 6.9: Pass; 7.0 to 8.9: Merit; 9.0 to
10: Outstanding. At the end of the call, the Academic Coordination
Committees of the master's degree programmes, in view of the
reports issued by the selection panels and, where appropriate,
after hearing the chair of each panel, will decide on the awarding
of the mention of Honours to the dissertations they deem
appropriate, in accordance with the regulations in force.
The identification by the examining board of plagiarism in
the TFM, either in the deposit or defence phase, will be grounds
for a grade of Fail (0), regardless of the measures provided for in
the disciplinary regime of the University of Jaén. In the
event that plagiarism is detected before the public defence, the
student will lose his/her right to the defence.
The examining board will draw up a record of the defence of the dissertation, which, in addition to the appropriate grades in each case, must include any students who did not present for the defence of the dissertation, if any.
If the result of the grade is Failed, the examining board
will send a report with the recommendations it considers
appropriate for its improvement and subsequent evaluation to the
tutoring lecturer and to the students responsible for the TFM.
Revision of the grade
The revision of the TFM grade will be carried out after
submitting a reasoned complaint to the Academic Coordination
Committee of the Master's Degree. The regulations governing the
University of Jaén's examination or assessment claims system
will be applicable.

Health and Well-being
The primary objective of this module is to provide an in-depth understanding of the factors that influence health and well-being, with a particular focus on physical activity and its benefits. Students will learn to critically evaluate scientific literature related to health promotion and well-being and to develop evidence-based interventions to improve the quality of life for various population groups. Topics such as the prevention of chronic diseases, the promotion of active and healthy lifestyles, and the implementation of exercise programs tailored to different needs will be addressed. Additionally, the importance of mental health and its relationship with physical activity will be emphasized, providing students with tools to design comprehensive strategies that address both physical and mental well-being. Through case studies, data analysis, and research projects, students will be prepared to make significant contributions to the field of public health and well-being from an interdisciplinary perspective.
Quality Education
This module aims to explore and promote quality education in the field of physical activity and health sciences. Students will analyze pedagogical principles and best educational practices that foster effective and meaningful learning. Curriculum design, assessment, and the implementation of educational programs that integrate physical activity as a central component for the holistic development of students will be discussed. Additionally, educational policies and their impact on the quality of teaching and learning in diverse contexts will be examined. Future educators and researchers will be trained to use innovative teaching methods and advanced educational technologies to enhance the learning experience. Inclusion and equity in education will also be key topics, ensuring that all students, regardless of their backgrounds, have access to quality education that promotes health and well-being throughout their lives.
Reducing Inequalities
The purpose of this module is to analyze health inequalities and access to physical activity and to develop strategies to reduce these disparities. Students will investigate how socioeconomic, cultural, and geographical factors influence health equity and participation in physical activities. Community interventions and public policies aimed at improving access to health resources and exercise opportunities for marginalized populations will be explored. Additionally, the importance of participatory research and community collaboration in designing culturally sensitive and sustainable programs will be discussed. Students will learn to apply social justice-based approaches to address inequalities and promote an inclusive environment that supports the health and well-being of all individuals, especially those in vulnerable situations.
Partnerships for the Goals
This module focuses on the creation and management of strategic partnerships to achieve common goals in the field of physical activity and health. Students will explore the importance of interdisciplinary and multisectoral collaboration in developing and implementing effective public health programs. Case studies of successful partnerships between academic institutions, governments, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector will be examined. Students will learn to identify collaboration opportunities, negotiate and manage partnerships, and evaluate the impact of joint projects. Additionally, the role of global networks and international organizations in promoting health and well-being will be discussed. Through practical projects and simulations, students will develop skills to lead collaborative initiatives that address complex challenges and improve health at the community and global levels.
