4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The course combines the exposition of the theoretical contents of the program and the intervention of the student both individually and in groups through various practices previously introduced by the teacher. In the presentation of the content blocks, an active, participative, global and interdisciplinary methodology will be advocated, favoring the involvement of the students in their own learning process. It will be based on the experience of the contents (see activities in the section of the syllabus referred to didactic resources) through the different active methods worked on, with continuous practical and simulation exemplifications, putting into practice at all times the abilities of listening, musical expression, analysis and reflection.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

1. ATTENDANCE, ATTITUDE AND PARTICIPATION (30%)

Attendance of the students to face-to-face classes, tutorials, complementary activities (didactic concerts, exhibitions, etc.) and seminars planned throughout the course. The participation and attitude demonstrated in the classes and the completion of exercises or daily tasks requested will also be valued.

2. THEORETICAL CONTENTS (30%)

Passing the written exam on the theoretical-practical contents of the program. It will be valued, above all, the capacity of analysis and comparison of the different methods, techniques and didactic resources in musical education in order to establish a methodology of the area.

Realization of practices, elaboration-exhibition of works and autoformative activities, both individual and in group. Specifically, a Didactic Unit of those that compose the annual planning for a chosen course will be delivered, as well as resources of own elaboration, both individual and group of the blocks of contents treated. It will be valued, mainly, the:

Capacity for learning and collaborative work (in the case of group tasks), as well as the effort made.

Ability to generate new ideas and to elaborate in a creative and innovative way musical resources, didactic proposals and research projects.
Ability to design, plan and manage musical activities, classroom programs, didactic units and educational projects, demonstrating control of the legislative framework relating to music education in Secondary and Baccalaureate.
Understanding and critical evaluation of the proposed materials (articles, books, videos, etc.) for the promotion of the debate in class.

GRADING

The student's final grade will be the weighted average of the grades obtained in the theoretical exam, in the practices and self-study activities and in the attendance and attitude. It is essential to pass each section separately; otherwise, the final grade will be a failure. In addition, in order to be entitled to the ordinary call, it is mandatory to have at least 80% in attendance.

EXTRAORDINARY CONVOCATION

For those students who choose the single evaluation (no attendance to the course or delivery of activities), the evaluation tests will consist of: theoretical exam (50%) and presentation of the required work (50%), being necessary to pass both parts to make the average.
