The course combines the exposition of theoretical program content with student participation, both individually and in groups, through various practical activities introduced beforehand by the instructor. The presentation of content blocks will follow an active, participatory, holistic, and interdisciplinary methodology, fostering student engagement in their own learning process.
The course will be based on critical reflection using diverse sources of information, particularly official documents, selected readings, audiovisual materials, and textbooks, among other resources.
Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support
Final Grading Criteria
The final grade will be a weighted average of the scores obtained in the theoretical exam, practical activities, self-directed learning tasks, and attendance and participation. Each component must be passed separately; otherwise, the final grade will be a failing mark.
1. ATTENDANCE, ATTITUDE, AND PARTICIPATION (20%)
Attendance at in-person classes, tutoring sessions, complementary activities, and scheduled seminars throughout the course is required. Assessment criteria include: level of participation, interest, and overall attitude demonstrated in class; completion of assigned exercises and daily tasks; ability to engage in dialogue and argumentation; use of appropriate oral language; and originality, structure, and justification in contributions.
2. THEORETICAL CONTENT (40%)
Successful completion of a written exam covering theoretical and practical course content. Assessment criteria include: degree of comprehension and mastery of the material; critical, analytical, and synthetic thinking skills; organization and coherence of ideas; clarity and neatness in writing; and ability to relate theoretical content to practical applications.
3. PRACTICAL WORK, PROJECT, AND ASSIGNMENTS (40%)
Completion of practical exercises, project development and presentation, and self-directed learning activities, both individually and in groups. Specifically, students must submit a portfolio or course log containing all required assignments and tasks. Assessment will focus primarily on:
- Learning capacity and ability to work collaboratively (for group tasks), as well as the effort demonstrated.
- Research skills, diversity, and scientific rigor of consulted sources, along with presentation quality in written assignments (neatness, organization, adherence to specified formats, etc.).
- Knowledge of the legislative framework related to music education in Secondary and Upper Secondary Education.
- Comprehension and critical evaluation of analyzed materials and sources (legislation, textbooks, audiovisual materials, etc.) to foster class discussions.
- Clarity in presentation, appropriate language use, and organization of oral discourse.
- Originality in the approach to practical exercises, projects, and assignments.
For students opting for a single assessment (due to non-attendance and non-submission of coursework), the evaluation will consist of a comprehensive theoretical-practical exam (100%) covering all theoretical and practical content, as well as the assignments completed throughout the course.
