4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Theory classes.

Practical laboratory sessions in small groups where the student will apply different techniques and experimental protocols related to the theoretical contents. The student will have to collect and discuss the obtained results after each practical session.

Practical activities and problem resolution in small groups.

Individual and collective tutorial sessions, where the student will be able to ask and solve questions guided by the professor.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Theoretical knowledge will be evaluated from the written answer to the exam questions. To pass Theory, a grade of 5 out of 10 must be obtained. If the Theory is not approved, the subject is not approved.

The practices will be evaluated based on the attitude in the laboratory and the answer to questions and exercises related to each practice. Only the work of those attending the practices will be evaluated. Failure to attend a practical session, if not justified, implies obtaining a zero in the grade corresponding to the activity, with the corresponding decrease in the general grade. If you do not attend at least five laboratory practice sessions, you will not have a grade in the Practices aspect. Also, there will be a written exam related to practical activities.

Problem-based learning (PBL) will be evaluated based on the results of the tasks proposed in each session. Only the work of those attending the PBL sessions will be evaluated. Failure to attend a PBL session, if not justified, implies obtaining a zero in the grade corresponding to the activity, with the corresponding decrease in the general grade. If you do not attend at least five PBL sessions, you will not be graded in this aspect. There will also be a written exam related to the PBL activities carried out.

8. VIRTUAL / CLASSROOM TEACHING SCENARIO

In the MIXED SCENARIO, both teaching and evaluation will take place in person to the extent that conditions allow.

Methodology:

Theory classes will be held in person in the classroom.

The practices will be carried out in the laboratory in a small group. Otherwise, half of the small group will carry out a face-to-face practical session in the laboratory and the other half will attend videos and online tutorials that show the fundamentals and procedures of an internship in the schedule established by the Faculty. In the next practical session, the assistance procedure is alternated. Students must answer questions and exercises related to the corresponding practical sessions and deliver them to the teaching staff through the Virtual Teaching platform.

The classes of Based on Problems Learning  (BPL) will be carried out  face-to-face, in small group in classrooms with sufficient capacity to maintain the safety distance.

The tutoring sessions, individual or collective, will be carried out synchronously through videoconference or asynchronous through the Virtual Teaching forum.

Evaluation system

The evaluation criteria and procedures are maintained for the theory, practical and BPL activities that exist in the face-to-face setting. Theory must be passed in order to pass the subject.

Resources:

Virtual Teaching platform (PLATEA)

Google Meet

Online videos of theory lectures.

Game based learning: Kahoot, Hot potatoes, Biomodel, etc.

9. VIRTUAL TEACHING SCENARIO

In the NON-PRESENTIAL SCENARIO the activities will be carried out online.

Methodology

Theoretical classes to the whole group by videoconference in the schedule established by the Faculty.

The laboratory sessions will be replaced by video demonstrations or videoconference. The students will receive information and feasible results with the experimentation carried out in the demonstrations, which they must manage to respond to a series of exercises that must be delivered to the teachers for evaluation through the Virtual Teaching platform.

The directed activities (BPL) will be carried out in small groups in a tutored way by videoconference. It will be required the answering and delivery of a questionnaire.

The tutored sessions, individual or collective, will be carried out synchronously through videoconference or could be asynchronous through the Virtual Teaching forum.

Evaluation system

The theoretical exams will be carried out using online forms of multiple choice and short answer. Questions must be answered in a limited time. The teachers will monitor the completion of the exam for each student by videoconference.

The works and exercises of the virtual practical sessions and PBL are evaluated, and must be delivered within a period stipulated by the teaching staff.

Theory must be passed in order to pass the subject.
