4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

  • Lecture Sessions in Large Groups (Interactive Lectures): These sessions involve the presentation of the theoretical content of the course in an interactive manner. An active methodology will be used to encourage participation, demand information, and foster reflections on the material being explained. This approach aims to engage students more deeply with the content, promoting a better understanding through discussion and active involvement in the learning process.

  • Practical Activities: These activities include a variety of tasks designed to reinforce and apply the theoretical knowledge gained in lectures. They encompass readings, activities on the PLATEA platform, debates, role-playings, group works, solving exercises, presentations, seminars in english and other similar tasks. These practical activities aim to provide hands-on experience, facilitate collaborative learning, and enhance critical thinking skills. By engaging in these tasks, students will be able to apply theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios, deepen their understanding, and develop important skills for their future professional practice.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The detailed evaluation of the different sections is as follows:

1) S1 (attendance and participation: 10% of the final grade). Attendance and participation in class will be recorded through tracking sheets by the faculty. These activities aim to evaluate Learning Outcomes R09 and R12.

2) S2 (theoretical concepts of the subject: 65% of the final grade). Mastery of the theoretical subject matter will be evaluated through objective tests that will include multiple-choice questions and/or short and long-form questions. This activity aims to evaluate Learning Outcomes R07, R13, and R016.

3) S3 (completion of cases, assignments, and exercises: 25% of the final grade). Assignments, cases, or exercises on the practical aspects of the subject will be completed and submitted. These activities aim to evaluate Learning Outcomes R08, R09, R12, and R17.

Voluntary participation in empirical studies managed by the course faculty will be compensated with a maximum extra bonus of 0.5 (depending on the study), which will be added to the obtained grade. Students who do not wish to participate in these studies can earn this bonus by taking an exam and/or summarizing a book or scientific articles on the subject, selected by the faculty. This bonus cannot be used to pass the course. It will be added to the obtained grade only if it is equal to or greater than 5.

Ordinary Call 1: The student must adhere to (S1, S2, S3) and pass the different described activities (S2, S3) to pass the course. To count the S1 section, it is necessary to achieve at least 80% of the maximum corresponding score, and sections S2 and S3 must be passed separately before adding the three scores together. The minimum required score to pass each of these sections (S2, S3) is half of the maximum possible score for each of them. Therefore, the student who has completed and passed them will only have to take the theoretical content exam.

The scores obtained in the practical activities (S3) from the previous academic year will be maintained, provided they are passed and the faculty considers that these activities are similar in content and student work to those planned for the current academic year. The score corresponding to S1 will not be maintained from other years and can only be obtained through attendance and participation.

Extraordinary Calls 1 and 2: The scores obtained in activities S1 and/or S3 in the current academic year and S3 in the previous year will be maintained (provided they are passed and the faculty considers that these activities are similar in content and student work to those planned for the current academic year). Therefore, the student who has completed and passed them will only have to take the theoretical content exam. Students who have not completed activities S1 and/or S3 or passed S3 can obtain the maximum score by taking the exam, which will include questions and scenarios to achieve this.
