The concept of culture, nation and identity.

Students will be invited to read different materials that will be useful for the development of the subject.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Lectures and practical classes in which different aspects of the course syllabus will be covered. Special emphasis will be placed on aspects related to the culture of English-speaking countries. Similarly, a series of texts will be selected, to be included in the practical sessions, which will cover the main cultural events in the different areas of study. 

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

1. There will be a final exam (50%) in which the different theoretical and practical aspects of the course syllabus will be put into practice. 

2. A written essay (20%) will be assigned, which may be replaced by class exercises. Likewise, a group of oral presentations will be assigned (20%) in which students will be graded according to their involvement in the preparation of the presentation. All these activities may be modified depending on the number of students in the subject and may be replaced by others in which the total weight (40%) is maintained.

3. Class attendance will be taken into account as long as there is active participation (10%).

DETAILED INFORMATION

Education helps to reduce inequalities and achieve gender equality. It also helps people around the world to live healthier and more sustainable lives. Education is also important in fostering tolerance among people and contributes to the development of more peaceful societies.

Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, it is one of the essential foundations for building a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world. Some progress has been made over the past decades, but the world is far from achieving gender equality by 2030. This subject will contribute to this SDG.

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. Addressees: service providers who are the owners of the platforms where the exams are carried out and with whom the University of Jaén has signed the corresponding data access contracts.

Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above.
