4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

  • The theoretical and practical lessons will take place in the classroom and in the Electronics laboratory.
  • In the theoretical lessons the theoretical content of each topic will be presented and practical application exercises (analysis and design) will be carried out.
  • The practical lessons in the laboratory will allow the application of what has been learned in the classroom, its focus being fundamentally practical.
  • In the theoretical and practical lessons it will be tried that the student acquires the necessary knowledge so that he can get to acquire the knowledge and competences of the subject.
  • Hours will be reserved for presentation and debate of students' work, presentation and comments of exercises, as well as other teaching activities that are agreed with the teacher.

With these activities, CB2, CB4, CB5, CEL1, CT2, and CT4 competencies are developed.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Global Evaluation

S1. The student's involvement in the development of the subject will be taken into account, both in the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and its practical application.
S2. Practical evaluation will be carried out in the laboratory setups.
S3. The structure of the setups, the quality of the documentation, and the presentation will be analyzed.

This evaluation will be conducted continuously throughout the teaching period of the subject.

Single Exam
In compliance with Article 13 of the Academic Regime and Student Evaluation Regulations of the University of Jaén, any student who, with justified reasons (as stated in the aforementioned article), cannot participate in the regulated and complementary activities proposed in the subject, may request a change in the evaluation procedure to a 'single exam'.
This request, along with the corresponding justification, must be made at least one week prior to the start of the examination period.
In this format, an exam will be conducted that will cover all the content of the subject, ensuring that the student has acquired the established competencies and learning outcomes. This exam will consist of two parts, and the weight assigned to each part will be:

* Theoretical part = 50%
* Practical part = 50%
To pass the subject, the student must obtain a grade equal to or higher than 5.0 points out of 10 in each part."

50% in-person. The rate of in-person attendance may vary based on the final number of students.

Master classes in the classroom and broadcast via videoconference, if technical means allow it, to the rest of the students. Periodic rotation of students.

10 sessions of practical teaching in small groups, in the laboratory, lasting 1 hour each.

50% in-person. The rate of in-person attendance may vary based on the final number of students.

Practical sessions will include hands-on experiments in the laboratory, with student rotation, and simulation of electronic circuits.

Tutoring.

In-person and online .

The schedule for each modality will be provided.

Evaluation system

Overall Evaluation

S1. The student's involvement in the development of the subject will be taken into account, both in the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and its practical application. (20%)

S2. Practical evaluation will be carried out in laboratory setups and circuit simulations, as long as the relevant Vice Chancellor's instructions can be followed. If not possible, it will be conducted online through simulation. (40%)

S3. The structure, quality of documentation, and presentation will be analyzed. (40%)

This evaluation will be conducted continuously throughout the teaching period.

Single Exam

In compliance with Article 13 of the Academic Regime and Student Evaluation Regulations of the University of Jaén, any student who, with valid justification (according to the provisions contained in the mentioned article), cannot participate in the prescribed and complementary activities proposed in the subject in person, may request a change to the evaluation procedure to a 'single exam'.

This request, along with the corresponding justification, must be made at least one week in advance of the start of the exam period.

In this mode, an exam covering all the contents of the subject will be conducted, ensuring that the student has acquired the established competencies and learning outcomes. This exam will consist of two parts, with equal weight assigned to each:

* Theoretical Part = 50%

* Practical Part = 50%

It will be conducted in person, provided that the instructions of the relevant Vice Chancellor can be followed. If not possible, it will be conducted online.

To pass the subject, the student must obtain a grade equal to or higher than 5.0 out of 10 in each part.

The Power Converters subject assesses the competencies: CB2, CB4, CB5, CEL1, CT2, and CT4.

A positive evaluation implies that the student has achieved the learning outcome Resul-12."

Resources

In this scenario, the communication channels between teachers and students are fundamentally modified. The following resources will be used:

  •       Videoconference through Google Meet or similar.
  •       Virtual whiteboard using Google Jamboard or similar.
  •       Repository of contents and discussion fórums through the PLATEA teaching platfom or similar.
