THEORY
Part 1: Components of a computer system. The operating system.
Part 2. The file system. File management.
Part 3: Basic programming structures. Functions. Exceptions. Iterables
Part 4: Data structures. Arrays, character strings, dictionaries and objects. Vectorized code.
Part 5: Visualization of scientific data.
Part 6: Object-oriented programming.
PRACTICE
Lesson 1: Variables and sequential programming structures.
Lesson 2: Data structures.
Lesson 3: Conditional and repetitive structures.
Lesson 4: Functions and recursion.
Lesson 5: Scientific computing libraries.
Lesson 6: Data visualization.
Lesson 7: Data structures and objects.
The subject is divided into two closely related parts: theory and practice.
The theory will be explained through lectures, which include questions and short problems to be solved by the students and generate debate. This activity develops the skills CB7R, CB9R, CG08, CG09, CT02 and CT05, as well as the learning results 25.1, 25.3, 25.4, 25.5, COIF01, COIF02 and COIF03.
In the lab the computer will be used to solve programming problems. In order to evaluate programming skills, some programs will have to be developed during lab hours. Also it will be necessary to solve tasks assigned to the student to be carried out in an autonomous way with a delivery deadline. With this activity the skills CB10R, CB7R, CG08, CG11, CT02, CT05, as well as the learning results 25.1, 25.2, 25.3, 25.4, COIF01 and COIF02 are developed.
Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support
According to the regulations of the University of Jaén, the assessment will be global.
The grade is obtained by the sum of the results obtained in the different activities carried out during the course, with the following weightings:
- Attendance to practices and active participation (10%)
- Evaluation of assigned work (30%)
- Practical exams (60%)
Activity 1) covers competences CG09, CT02, CT05 and learning results 25.1, 25.5 and COIF01.
Activity 2) covers skills CB10R, CB7R, CB9R, CG08 and learning results 25.1, 25.2, 25.3, 25.4, COIF02 and COIF03.
Activity 3) covers skills CG11 and learning results 25.1, 25.2, 25.3, 25.4 and COIF01.
