4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The activities will include theoretical lectures where database exercises will be discussed and resolved from a requirements document.

Practical activities will include the implementation of arelational database (Oracle DBMS) and the design and implementationof queries over the database.

The tutorial classes include debate about the key concepts ofthe subject and the resolution of advanced exercises.

The group and individual tutorials as established by the regulations are NOT PRESENTIAL. Therefore, the students themselves  have to dedicate these hours to the resolution of problems and doubts.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support.

In theory the competences CB2R, CB3R, CB5R, CC12R and CT6 will be worked on. In practicals the competences CC12R and CT6 and in group tutorials the competences CC12R and CT6.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

In accordance with the provisions of art. 13 of the Regulations of Academic Regime and Evaluation of the students of the University of Jaén, the evaluation of the subject will be global.

In order to pass the subject, it will be necessary to obtain a score of 5.0 after adding the marks of the following concepts:

- (S1) 5 % of the mark for the completion of exercises and assumptions.

- (S2) 60 % of the mark for the theory exam (Minimum mark required for this part).

- (S4) 35 % of the mark for the practical part (No minimum mark is required for this part).

The theory part of the course consists of:

Theory exam (S2): This corresponds to 60% of the overall grade of the subject in the S2 concept. Passing this exam is required (a 5 out of 10 in the exam). If this minimum is not obtained, the final grade will be the grade obtained in the exam, without considering the rest of the grades obtained in S1 and S4. The exam will be taken in all official exams, both ordinary and extraordinary. The exam mark will not be saved from one exam session to another. The competences CB2R, CB3R, CB5R, CC12R and CT6 will be assessed.

The practical part of the course (S4) consists of:

- Practical scripts: 80% of the practical classes of the subject must be attended and all the scripts must be completed. If, for any justified reason, the student cannot attend the practical classes continuously, he/she must inform the teacher responsible for the group at the beginning of the term, in order to find a solution that satisfies both parties. The grade will be PASS - FAIL
- Database Project: Numerical grade 0..10

The final grade for the practical part (S4) will be the grade for the Database Project if the practical scripts are graded PASS. If the scripts are NOT PASSED, the grade in the practical part S4 will be 0.0. Both the project and the scripts will assess the competences CC12R and CT6.

The grade obtained by the student during the teaching period (concepts S1 and S4) will be maintained for the official exams of the same course.

The exercises/projects/assignments/cases/scripts/ for the evaluation of aspects S1 and S4, must be delivered in due time and form, with no extraordinary deliveries.

Copying/plagiarism in exams, written tests, assignments or projects will lead to a grade of 0.0 in the subject.

During the academic term, evaluative tests of part of the syllabus may be carried out.

The tests and activities of both the theoretical and practical parts allow the evaluation of all the competences and learning outcomes included in sections 6 and 7 of this Teaching Guide.

Objects that are NOT going to be used for the exam (books, mobile phones, etc.) will be deposited in the place indicated by the teachers.

The use or possession of electronic devices, mobile phones (switched on or off), books, notes, private instruments or objects other than those specified by the teachers will not be permitted.
