4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

During the extensive group classes, the subject's theoretical knowledge is imparted.

Conversely, the small group class sessions are structured into two distinct phases. The initial phase spans a few weeks and serves as an introduction to the utilization of passive components in circuits. The subsequent phase, which constitutes the majority of the semester, is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on problem-solving related to the theoretical knowledge covered thus far, while the second part encompasses the simulation, assembly, and measurement of practical circuits.

The practical exercises are conducted in a semi-guided manner, whereby the circuits being studied are not fully designed, and it is the responsibility of the student to complete them according to specific specifications. These circuits may be physical or simulated, thus allowing for the instruction of electronic simulation.

To foster the acquisition of English language skills, the course materials, including the textbook and lecture slides, are presented in English. Furthermore, during the practical sessions, device and integrated circuit datasheets, which are in English, are utilized.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

course mark = theory mark + laboratory mark

In the laboratory practices, the evaluation focuses on assessing the skills CB2R, CB3R, CB4R, CB5R, CEX2, CEX5, Results 24, and Results 25. The laboratory mark, ranging from 0 to 5 points, is determined by three components. Firstly, there is a test on components, which contributes up to 1 point. Secondly, completion of the semi-guided practice is worth 1 point and can only be done during the academic term. Lastly, an exam mark on the semi-guided practice contributes from 0 to 3 points towards the laboratory mark.

In the problem exams, the skills CB2R, CB3R, CB4R, CB5R, CEX1, CEX2, CEX5, and Results 20, 21, 22, and 23 are assessed. The theory mark, ranging from 0 to 5 points, can be obtained in the regular assessment through two options. Firstly, students can take three partial exams conducted during the academic term. Alternatively, they can opt for a final exam during the designated exam period. In the extraordinary assessment, only a final exam during the exam period is available.
