4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

For the expository classes in large groups, the following will be used: lectures, reading and discussion of articles and conferences and seminars related to the subject of the course.

For the practical group classes, exercises and case studies will be solved, each group of students will work on the company projects they have to develop, and presentations will be made, which may be collective or individual.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The assessment procedure chosen is that of continuous assessment as it is the most convenient for the acquisition of the intended competences by the students.

In order to take part in the continuous assessment system it will be necessary to attend class regularly (attendance will be monitored through the UJA APP). Attendance below 80% will make it impossible to carry out the continuous assessment and the final exam of the course must be taken.

Attendance and participation in class and in the proposed activities will account for 10% of the grade.

Within the evaluable activities, the following activities or assignments will be proposed throughout the course (30% of the mark):

  • Completion of questionnaires on entrepreneurial intention and other related aspects.
  • Presentation and critical commentary in class on articles and case studies or practical exercises.
  • Analysis of the characteristics and skills of entrepreneurs through secondary information.
  • Analysis of the survival and current situation of recent ventures published in the press in recent years.
  • Elaboration of practical cases of successful entrepreneurship and failed ventures.
  • Analysis of global entrepreneurship indicators.
  • Exercises on the application of creativity techniques to specific problems.
  • Preparation of business model canvases for the proposed companies.
  • Collaboration in research activities related to entrepreneurship.

60% of the final grade consists of the elaboration and oral defence of a business plan (group activity).

  • The group should have between 2 (minimum) and 4 (maximum) members.
  • Each group will make an initial presentation to the whole class of the business model canvas, the value proposition canvas, the empathy map, the customer journey map, and the KPIs of the business idea chosen by each group.
  • Each member of each group must contribute to the improvement of the business ideas of the other groups, and pivot their own business model with the contributions of the other groups.
  • Each group must produce a video for the final presentation, with a maximum duration of 3 minutes, describing their company and how it solves the needs of customers better than the competition.
  • The group must make a final presentation (oral defence) of their company according to the proposed script.
  • Written preparation of the business plan and the necessary documentation for its implementation.

The originality of the business idea, its technical, commercial and economic-financial viability will be assessed.

Only the presentation may be used in the presentations. The use of paper scripts, cards, mobile phones or tablets will not be allowed.

Lack of originality or plagiarism in the performance of any of the activities will be grounds for assigning a total score of zero to this aspect.

Given that continuous assessment with group work is proposed, those students who abandon their groups throughout the course, or who fail to comply with the usual attendance requirement, will have to take a final exam, and may obtain a maximum grade of 9 points in the ordinary exam.

In the extraordinary exam, the exam will have a maximum grade of 10 points.

Attendance at conferences organised with entrepreneurs, managers and/or representatives of institutions linked to entrepreneurship will be compulsory.
