3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

PART I. INTRODUCTION

Unit 1. Corporate investment and financing. Inclusion of non-financial aspects.

 

PART II: VALUATION AND SELECTION OF INVESTMENT PROJECTS UNDER CERTAINTY

Unit 2. Corporate investment. Explanatory variables of the profitability of a project.

Unit 3. Long-term corporate financing. Computation of the cost of financing.

Unit 4. Criteria of valuation and selection of investment projects.

Unit 5. Valuation of alternative investment projects through incremental analysis. 

 

PART III: VALUATION OF INVESTMENT PROJECTS UNDER RISK CONDITIONS

Unit 6. Valuation of investment projects under risk conditions.

 

These contents are related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Lessons related to sustainable investment and financing and non-financial balance-sheet will reinforce the SDG 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15 y 16, through the specific targets 1.4, 4.4, 4.7, 4C, 5.1, 8.3, 8.5, 8.10, 9.3, 10.2, 10.3, 12.1, 12.6, 12.8, 13.3, 15.A y 16.6.

In addition, contents of the 2030 Agenda and SDG will be generally included in all the aspects of the subjets to generate a general consciousness-rasing towards more sustainable behaviours in their daily activities.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

In the content of this subject there is a theoretical part that will be explained in the theory classroom and a practical content that will be explained in the computer classroom. Microsoft Excel will be used for the application of the practical content.

During the explanation of the theory, we will use a projector. In addition, several practical examples will be explained on the blackboard. Likewise, some speechs(talks of experts in some particular aspects may be included.

We will motivate students for their participation by developing group works, by asking them questions in order to check their extent of understanding about the contents of the subject, and by generating debates, thus promoting their critical attitude.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

In Ordinary call (Convocatoria Ordinaria), the evaluation system will consist of continuous evaluation + final exam. Thus, the final mark will consist of three parts:

  • Continuous evaluation (25%): one theoretical exam will be taken during the course hours.
  • Group work (5%): it will be exposed during the classes.
  • Final practical exam (70%): it wil take place on the official date for the evalution of the course.

A minimum of 4 points over 10 will be required in both continous evaluation exam (theory) and final exam (practice) to pass the course.

In extraordinary call (convocatoria extraordinaria), the marks of the partial exams that reached the minimum required in Ordinary Call will be preserved, as well as the mark of the group work. A minimum of 4 over 10 points is required in the two parts of the exam (theory and practice) to pass the course.

7. VIRTUAL / CLASSROOM TEACHING SCENARIO

  1. Teaching methodology: If the classroom capacity is enough for all the students in the group, there will be 100% face-to-face lectures.

    If the capacity of the classroom is not enough, the face-to-face lectures will be partial, with some of the students attending the lecture. The rest will be able to follow the lecture online. The face-to-face group will rotate every week.

    2. Evaluation system: No changes from the original syllabus.

    Exams and exercises will be taken online if it is not possible to take them at the university.

    3. Electronic resources to be used: Telematic resources will be needed for teaching and evaluation activities that cannot be carried out at the university.

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. In order to avoid frauds while sitting the exam, the exam will be answered using a videoconference system, being able the academic staff of the University of Jaén to compare and contrast the image of the person who is answering the exam with the student's photographic files. Likewise, in order to provide the exam with evidential content for revisions or claims, in accordance with current regulation frameworks, the exam will be recorded and stored.

Legitimacy: compliance with legal obligations (Universities Law) and other national and regional regulations currently in force.

Addressees: service providers who are the owners of the platforms where the exams are carried out and with whom the University of Jaén has signed the corresponding data access contracts.

Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above. In the event that you consider that your rights have been violated, you may submit a complaint to the Andalusian Council for Transparency and Data Protection www.ctpdandalucia.es
