3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Unit 1. Historical introduction to Environmental Education (E.A.), Historical development of Environmental Education. Purposes and objectives of the E.A.: Sustainable Development.

Unit 2. Ecosystem services and environmental problems. The environment as a system. The environmental paradigm. The big environmental problems. Analysis of the environmental problem from the E.A.

Unit 3. Types of Environmental Education: E.A. formal (regulated education), E.A non-formal (non-regulated education), E.A. in the field of the company. Environmental interpretation E.A. in leisure time. Environmental education in Europe, Spain. Promoters, services, etc.

Unit 4. Basic methodological principles for environmental education. Facing the challenge of environmental education: From the understanding of environmental problems to the development of pro-environmental attitudes and behaviors. Learning as construction and experience of the subject who learns. Cognitive, affective and experiential links. Project-based learning in EA. Research learning in EE.

Unit 5. Projects and didactic resources for environmental education. Design principles and pedagogical standards. Critical analysis of projects and resources for EE

Practical sessions:

Two field sessions (external) will be held, with the purpose of visiting centers specialized in Environmental Education as well as events related to the subject (conferences or conferences).

Four computer sessions will be held: databases, bibliographic sources and Internet sites related to the subject will be handled.

Cabinet sessions will be held, aimed at developing teamwork dynamics, presentation of reports and environmental education projects and projects, creation of discussion forums. Materials used in environmental education (comics, movies or documentaries, games...) will be evaluated.

SDG INTEGRATION

With these contents, aspects related to the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs) will be reinforced. Mainly the topics related to the conceptual framework of ecosystem services will reinforce SDGs 3, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 15. The blocks related to ethics and environmental justice will reinforce SDGs 1, 2, 5, 8, 10, 16 and 17. The critical spirit, basic to the achievement of SDG4 (quality education), will be fostered.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Lectures (2 ECTS credits): theoretical academic sessions with the support of ICT in which teaching material, bibliographical references, Internet addresses will be provided, in which the student can personally continue the work. This activity will allow the acquisition of the CE-30 competence.
Field and office practices (compulsory) (2.4 ECTS credits): there will be two visits in order to acquire skills CT23 and CT27. Cabinet practices will be carried out in working groups, it will be necessary to present and defend a report. The results obtained must be analyzed and discussed globally with the teacher. This activity will allow the acquisition of CE-30 and CT-23 skills.
Classroom practices and presentation of cases (1 ECTS credit): resolution of questions on the subjects worked on, as well as presentation and defense of work carried out by groups of students on the subject of  environmental interest and related to the subjects previously worked on. Competitions CT-3, CT-27 and CE-30.
Tutorials in small groups (0.4 ECTS credits) for discussion on topics of interest on the work subjects. This activity will allow you to acquire all the skills.
Exams (0.2 ECTS credits)

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Evaluation of theoretical training (50%): the skills CT-3, CT-23 and CT-27 will be evaluated. The written test can be short questions, answer multiple choice questions or essay questions. The course may consider the possibility of continuous assessment and partial exams that could eliminate material. The basic skills CB3, CB4 and CB5 will be achieved

Evaluation of the practical training (20%): There will be a continuous evaluation of the attitudes and skills developed during the field, computer and cabinet practices. Attendance at the practical sessions is mandatory, as is delivery of the workbook. Competences CT-27 and CT-23 will be evaluated.

Attendance is required at least 80% of the sessions to obtain 20% of the weight of the general evaluation, attendance control by signature

Group work (30%): the way of relating to other colleagues, the equitable distribution of work and group work strategies will be evaluated. It will also evaluate the oral presentation of the work. This section evaluates all the competencies. The basic skills CB3, CB4 and CB5 will be achieved

Similar criteria for ordinary and extraordinary evaluation.

7. VIRTUAL / CLASSROOM TEACHING SCENARIO

All teaching activities -evaluation included- will be face-to-face to the extent the situation allows it.

1) Methodology

Large group teaching (24 sessions of 1 h). Small seminar and computer groups and small laboratory groups, completing, for the acquisition of minimum skills, with multimedia material of their own creation or available on the net (16 sessions of 2 hours). Individualized or group tutoring.

2) Assessment

Continuous assessment with i) delivery of face-to-face work and tasks and with ii) written test of short questions of face-to-face development. Similar criteria for ordinary and extraordinary assessment.

3) Resources

The necessary resources offered by the University of Jaén (https://www.ujaen.es/herramientas-para-la-docencia-y-la-evaluacion-virtual) will be used to carry out teaching and evaluation in the scenario modality mixed. Electronic bibliographic resources from the Library of the University of Jaén (https://www.ujaen.es/servicios/biblio/) will be used.

8. VIRTUAL TEACHING SCENARIO

All teaching activities -evaluation included- will be online

1) Methodology

Large group teaching will be carried out online (100%; 24 sessions of 1 h). The seminars, computer practices and small group cabinet practices will be carried out online (100%; 16 sessions of 2 hours). It will be completed for the acquisition of minimum skills with multimedia material of own elaboration or available on the network.

2) Assessment

Continuous assessment with i) delivery of work online (50%) and with ii) synchronous written test of short development questions (50%) using the applications supplied with the University of Jaén ( https://www.ujaen.es /tools-for-teaching-and-virtual-assessment). Similar criteria for ordinary and extraordinary evaluation.

3) Resources

The necessary resources offered by the University of Jaén (https://www.ujaen.es/herramientas-para-la-docencia-y-la-evaluacion-virtual) will be used to carry out teaching and evaluation in this scenario. Electronic bibliographic resources from the Library of the University of Jaén (https://www.ujaen.es/servicios/biblio/) will be used.

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. In order to avoid frauds while sitting the exam, the exam will be answered using a videoconference system, being able the academic staff of the University of Jaén to compare and contrast the image of the person who is answering the exam with the student's photographic files. Legitimacy: compliance with legal obligations (Universities Law) and other national and regional regulations currently in force.

Addressees: service providers who are the owners of the platforms where the exams are carried out and with whom the University of Jaén has signed the corresponding data access contracts.

Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above. In the event that you consider that your rights have been violated, you may submit a complaint to the Andalusian Council for Transparency and Data Protection www.ctpdandalucia.es
