Study of the biological, social, economic, political, ideological and gender processes involved in the development of prehistoric societies from the Chalcolithic to the Iron Age. The specific aspects to be developed are: the temporal, spatial and theoretical framework; the origin of metallurgy; the development of social complexity; the appearance of aristocratic societies and the consolidation of large commercial networks.
Unit 1. The beginnings of metallurgy and the Chalcolithic in the Near East.
Unit 2. The European Chalcolithic.
Unit 3. Bell Beaker groups.
Unit 4. Bronze Age.
Unit 5. Final Bronze Age.
Unit 6. Iron Age in continental Europe.
Unit 7. Iron Age in Mediterranean Europe.
The contents and competencies of this subject include the following Sustainable Development Goals:

Theory sessions with audiovisual resources.
Practice sessions with individual and group work, visits to archaeological sites and museums.
Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support
The student must pass the theoretical exam to include the assessment of group and individual work.
Research work and visits to archaeological sites will be mandatory. The student will not pass the subject if they have not done both of them, research work and the visit to archaeological site.
When the research work and/or the visit to archaeological site have not been delivered on the scheduled date, you can proceed as follows to pass the extraordinary exam:
-Submit research work dated before June 24.
- In the case of visits to sites and/or museums, since they cannot be repeated, they will be replaced by a work to be presented also before June 24.

Multimodal or mixed teaching will be carried out as long as the equipment is available to allow synchronous teaching to be given in those cases in which the attendance of the entire group in the classroom is not possible.

The theoretical exam must be passed to take into account the mark obtained in the practices and in the attendance. Attendance at practices will be mandatory. If any of the practical work is not presented or one of the visits is not attended, the subject cannot be passed.
When the practices have not been delivered or the visit to sites or museums has not been delivered on the scheduled date, you can proceed as follows to opt to pass the extraordinary exam: -Submit practical work dated before June 24.
- In the case of visits to sites and/or museums, since they cannot be repeated, they will be replaced by a work to be presented also before June 24.
In the multimodal scenario, the theoretical exam will be face-to-face. In the non-contact scenario, the exam will be online.
The ordinary and extraordinary call will be governed by the same criteria.
3. Resources
For online teaching and evaluation, conventional and available digital platforms will be used. It will be necessary to access the internet and have the necessary equipment to monitor the teaching.
In case of partial or total virtualization of teaching, complementary resources will be provided.
- Virtual visits. Online practices will be carried out through the use of virtual visits to prehistoric museums that have a type of resource in their public offer in relation to their collections, the permanent exhibition and temporary exhibitions, such as the MAN. Virtual visits to archaeological sites that also have this resource for public visit are also planned. These virtual visits will be accompanied by the necessary explanations by the teachers for their understanding by the students.
- Audiovisuals. The viewing of audiovisuals of various kinds, documentaries, virtual tours, explanations on specific topics, etc. will be recommended. They will be performed synchronously and asynchronously.
- Class presentations will be provided through virtual teaching. Ordinarily, the presentations of the theoretical classes will be uploaded to the teaching platform, as well as optional reading texts to complete the training.
- Selection of free online consultation resources. Links to scientific articles, regulatory documents, informative documents, etc. will be available in virtual teaching. considered to be of interest to the subject.
