4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Students will be provided with notes on the topics developed, which they will have to read and comment on in class. The theoretical classes will be oriented around these notes to clarify concepts, give examples and develop the key points for the practical exercises.

At the same time they will be provided with a list of bibliography and appropriate sources, as well as academic guidance, to carry out the essays and other work autonomously.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Active participation and attendance will be evaluated with 20% of the total grade. The teacher will base this grade on the following aspects:

Attendance: regular class attendance and sign-in sheets will be taken into account, as well as attendance to group tutorials.
Active participation: Active participation will be taken into account not only in class, but also in those discussion spaces and activities that are organized online, such as PLATEA, etc.
The mastery of theoretical and practical concepts will be evaluated through a final test that will count for a maximum of 40% of the final grade.

The remaining 40% of the grade will be based on the completion of written essay(s) and an oral activity. The following aspects will be evaluated: structure of the work, delivery on time, quality of written and oral expression in English, quality of the content, originality, formal quality of the work. When it is detected that the student has plagiarized and/or used Artificial Intelligence programs (such as ChatGPT) in the elaboration of any of the activities of the course, they will automatically obtain a grade of 0.

N.B.: regarding the dates for the final exams, international mobility students should consider that, except for exceptional reasons, they will not be able to take them on alternative dates, as they will be considered on the same terms as the rest of the students for all purposes. The official exams will take place in May-June ("convocatoria ordinaria") and, if the student does not pass the course, in June-July ("convocatoria extraordinaria").
