4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

I understand that the teaching/learning process must always be dynamic and open, which means, therefore, a continuous interaction between the teacher and the students from which both benefit. The true curricular planning is carried out in the classroom, where the program is adapted, contextualized and made flexible to the reality of the students. For this reason, the project of the subject should not be understood as something finished, closed and valid by itself, but rather it is constituted as a proposal that acquires its raison d'être in its specific teaching application, where educational, didactic conceptions are exchanged and developed. , scientific, academic, personal, ethical and social of the teacher and students. On paper, schematism prevails over the complexity of the actual teaching/learning process, which is difficult to reduce to logical categories, models or taxonomies.

At the university, as a teacher, I am faced with a student body that has already developed capacities in the cognitive, ethical, personal, social and even professional spheres and, therefore, with a degree of autonomy and decision-making capacity that is very different from the rest of non-university education levels. Therefore, a good part of the teaching or curricular planning decisions I move to the classroom, the course and the specific group of students with whom I work. University professors find ourselves in front of active subjects with a predisposition, knowledge and previous experiences about the contents, teaching and learning strategies and with a metacognitive capacity to assume self-assessment and self-regulation quotas. Therefore, displacing part of the planning and design of each subject to the classroom allows me to teach more centered on the students, more open and participatory, more adjusted to their interests, desires and needs and, therefore, more appropriate to the demands of some specific students.

Spanish-American literature classes are divided into two fundamental types, although in practice they are always interrelated: theoretical and practical, these being more participatory for the student. It is advisable that even the first ones are based to a large extent on different texts that demand the attention of the student and whose commentary is a starting or reference point, with which the student accesses a comprehensive, historical, critical, linguistic and textual vision of the Spanish literature.

If the theoretical classes provide the conceptual information of the topics and the methodological aspects for the approach to the texts, the practical classes delve into them, getting the student access by himself to the critical analysis of Latin American literature.

In practical classes, exhibitions and seminars, and specialized tutorials, my basic objectives are to ensure that the student acquires relevant skills and procedures (oral and written communication, decision-making, active application of knowledge, inference of conclusions, learning by discovery, planning and carrying out tasks). investigations, selection of procedures, text review, data recording, autonomous and group work, presentation of results in the classroom) and learn to use the various philological and textual analysis methods, exercising them.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support
