Introduction to electrotherapy, electrophysiology, low frequency currents, characteristics and its principles, galvanic current, medical and surgical galvanisms, iontophoresis, electrodiagnosis, faradaic current, sinusoidal current, diadynamic, interferential current, Russian current, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, high-voltage pulsed galvanic stimulation, microcurrent, and its effect mechanism, indications, contraindications, its dangers, maintenance, safety and hygiene are lectured in this course.
Theoretical exposure to the large group (Master class).
Laboratory practices in small groups.
Possibility of working in small groups.
Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support
Examination of theoretical contents.
Examination of practical contents.
There is the possibility of making small content assimilation tests.
Since the subject consists of two parts (theory and practice), to make the average of these evaluations, each of them must be passed separately (with a grade equal to or greater than 5 points). Otherwise, it will be understood that the subject is not passed.

- TEACHING METHODOLOGY AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES
Training Activities |
Mode (on site/on line)* |
Description of the teaching methodology |
30 Theoretical classes (Master classes) of Electrotherapy
|
All teaching activities (including evaluation) will be face-to-face to the extent that the social and health situation allows. |
30 sessions of participatory master classes of one hour each, held in the classroom and broadcast by videoconference to the rest of the group. Periodic rotation of students. Theoretical classes could also be held asynchronously (recordings) if exceptional or technical situations occurred.
|
10 Practical Lessons in 422 laboratory.
|
All teaching activities (incluiding evaluation) will be face-to-face to the extent that the social and health situation allows. |
|
Tutorship |
Online |
The tutorship will be online(synchronous and asynchronous). |
II.- EVALUATION SYSTEM
There will be a continuous assessment throughout the course through the delivery of activities, both theoretical and practical, by students through the PLATEA Virtual Teaching Platform of the University of Jaén, which will represent 20% of the grade final.
There will also be a final synchronous theoretical test online through the PLATEA Platform or the Google Forms application, depending on availability, (and with the possibility of recording it through Google Meet) on the date established by the Faculty of Sciences of the Health for each of the official calls, which will represent 45% of the final grade.
There will also be a final test for the practical part by means of videoconference, which will consist of a simulation of a practical case with a certain current of electrotherapy. This test will suppose 35% of the final grade.
NOTE: In the event that the health situation allows it and the practical lessons could have been carried out normally in the teaching laboratories, the practical exam could be done in person, individually or in pairs, with the teacher.
III.- RESOURCES
The computer resources provided by the University of Jaén (PLATEA Virtual Teaching Platform, Videoconference through Google Meet), other applications in the Google environment: Docs, Slides, Calendar, Drive, Forms) will be used in order to encourage student participation, as well as electronic bibliographic resources available in the library of the University of Jaén.
