3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Background and current challenges of the Public Social Services System in Spain.

Normative development of Social Services: Social Services in the Spanish Constitution. The Autonomous Laws of Social Services. Other regulations related to Social Services.

Organizational structure of Social Services: Levels of intervention: Community and Specialized social services (definition, objectives, characteristics, basic benefits). Areas of action: by population groups and specific needs.

Distribution of powers and territorial organization of Social Services in Andalusia: Junta de Andalucía, Provincial Councils, Town Halls.

Identification of resources and equipment of the public social services system: basic benefits of the current system of Social Services.

Management and financing of social services: private and social initiative.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

- Lecturer and student activities (theoretical presentation, seminars, work presentation)

- Practical activities (practices inside and outside the classroom, professional visits)

- Tutoring (joint teacher-student monitoring both individually and in small groups)

- Team work and report development: In practical lessons, teamwork will be encouraged for:  resources/services/benefits searching, resolution of practical cases, development of reports, debate and reflection. Reflection will be induced through documentaries and video-cases on social situations that require professional social intervention and mobilization of resources (homelessness, mental health, drug addiction, migration, family intervention, protection of minors,...). In each of these topics, the groups will have to answer the questions formulated by the teacher and in close relation to the content and skills to be developed in the subject. They will thus approach management in social services, involved and competent bodies, legislation, resources, services and associated benefits, coordination with other centers...)

 

In this subject, in its face-to-face mode, the use of mobile phones, IPODs and any other device of this type in the classroom is prohibited, so the use of it may lead to the expulsion of students from said classroom.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The evaluation of the students will combine various methods that will be selected from the following:

- Written test: essay exams, objective or semi-objective tests, problem solving, multiple choice tests, reports, projects and class diaries, etc. In order to fulfill the competences assigned to this evaluation system (E23, E26, E1, G2, E4, E3, E22, E2)

- Oral presentations in class: individual or in groups, on the contents of the syllabus (seminar) and on carrying out practical activities corresponding to specific competences E23, E26, E1, G2, E4, E3, E22, E2

- Active participation of the students in the activities programmed in the subject.

- Attendance to individual and group tutorials.

This selection will be made taking as criteria the relevant elements for the performance of the corresponding competencies, content-achievements associated with them, and taking into account the criteria for the performance of the competencies (E14, E21, E15, E16, E27, E28, E29)

It will be necessary to pass the theoretical exam (out of 7 points) to be able to add the practical notes (out of 2.5 points). In turn, in the ordinary exam, it will be necessary to pass the practices (continuous evaluation) to be able to take the exam. The practice mark will only be saved for the current academic year. Spelling mistakes both in the exams and in the papers presented will score negatively.

Development of participatory classes, held in the classroom (with the presence of 50% of the students) and broadcast in streaming for the rest of the group. Therefore, the students will be divided into two groups and the attendance will be rotating.

Face-to-face practical sessions in small groups, subject to classroom capacity.

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. In order to avoid frauds while sitting the exam, the exam will be answered using a videoconference system, being able the academic staff of the University of Jaén to compare and contrast the image of the person who is answering the exam with the student's photographic files. Likewise, in order to provide the exam with evidential content for revisions or claims, in accordance with current regulation frameworks, the exam will be recorded and stored.

Legitimacy: compliance with legal obligations (Universities Law) and other national and regional regulations currently in force.

Addressees: service providers who are the owners of the platforms where the exams are carried out and with whom the University of Jaén has signed the corresponding data access contracts.

Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above. In the event that you consider that your rights have been violated, you may submit a complaint to the Andalusian Council for Transparency and Data Protection www.ctpdandalucia.es
