Lectures in large group (14h):
*Introductory activities (1h): general presentation of the
subject, the teaching guide, activities to be carried out and
evaluation criteria.
*Lectures (13h): expository classes in large group in which
the theoretical contents of the subject will be developed.
Classes in groups of practices (14h)
* Laboratory practices (3h): practical experiments on different
aspects of the subject. Laboratory work in small groups (3 or 4
students).
* Presentations of individual or very small group work (4h):
analysis of case studies and reports on environmental management
and technology. Oral presentations by the different working groups
and subsequent discussion.
* Thematic seminar (2h): introduction to waste management,
viewing of videos and subsequent discussion.
* Visits (5h): Attendance to the 16th National Environmental
Congress CONAMA 2022.
The contents of this subject connect with the following Sustainable Development Goals:
SDG 3.9 Reduce deaths from chemical contamination and pollution.
SDG 4.3 Ensure equal access to higher education and 4.4 Increase skills for access to employment.
SDG 5.B Improve the use of technology and ICTs
SDG 6.3 Improve water quality. Reduce pollution and wastewater, 6.5 Implement integrated water resources management, 6.6. Protecting water-related ecosystems, 6.A. Promote management capacity building.
SDG 7.2 Scaling up renewable energy and 7.A. Increase research and investment in clean energy.
SDG 8.4 Improving efficient and environmentally friendly production and consumption.
SDG 9.4 Modernization of infrastructure, clean technology.
SDG 11.6 Reducing environmental impacts in cities.
SDG 12.2 Achieve efficient use of natural resources, 12.4 Waste and chemical management, and 12.5 Waste prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.
SDG 13.3 Improving environmental education and awareness
SDG 15.1 Ensure the conservation and sustainable use of ecosystems.
Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support
For the evaluation of the theoretical contents, a multiple-choice exam is proposed, with a weight of 60% in the final grade of the course. It should be noted that, to pass the course, the score obtained in the final exam must be equal or higher than 4. With this exam the competences CC10, CB3 and CB2 will be evaluated.
In case this minimum value is not exceeded, the score obtained in the practical activities will not count in the FINAL QUALIFICATION OF THE COURSE, so it will coincide with the grade of the EXAM.
The evaluation of the laboratory practices has been assigned 10% of the total grade of the course, divided between the elaboration of the report (5%) and the control of the attendance and observation techniques (5%) of the interest shown by the students during the realization of the laboratory practices. Competence CB3 will be evaluated.
The seminar and subsequent debate on waste management corresponds to a percentage of 5% of the total of the subject. Competence CB3 will be evaluated.
The attendance to the Congress represents a 10% of the final grade of the subject. Attendance and interest (5%) and the report prepared (5%) will be taken into account for its evaluation. Competence CB2 will be evaluated.
Finally, the evaluation of teamwork and participation in the debates will represent 15% of the weight in the final grade of the course. The competences CB2 and CB3 will be evaluated.
The evaluation system presented corresponds to a continuous evaluation in the sense that different evaluation instruments have been used and applied at different time points of the term in order to promote the continuous work of the student throughout the development of the course.
However, those students who have difficulties in following the alternative evaluation system, as stated in the Regulations of Academic Regime and Evaluation of the Students of the University of Jaén. In this case, the alternative evaluation system will consist of a multiple-choice exam that will be 80% of the final grade and an individual work that will correspond to the remaining 20% of the grade.
