Chapter I. Basic Elements of Electrical Power Systems.
Lesson 1. Three-Phase Synchronous Generator.
Lesson 2. The Power Transformer for control purposes.
Lesson 3. Transmission line model and performance.
Chapter II. The Power System in Steady-State.
Lesson 4. The Power Flow problem. Computational algorithms of
the Power Flow problem.
Chapter III. The Power System in Transient-States.
Lesson 5. Fault Analysis in Large Power Systems.
Aggregate groups sessions where the basic theoretical concepts
that students should know to comprehend the subject will be
explained. In these sessions, simple exercises will be proposed so
the foundations of the theory explained can be easily
understood.Students should prepare the subject before hand to take
advantage of the theoretical sessions.
Reduced group sessions will have a close follow-up of the
students. Skills acquired in the theoretical sessions and the
weekly study of the subject will be tested doing works, exercises
and simple exams in a daily basis.
There will be five practical sessions in the laboratory
wherethe most important concepts explained in the theoretical
session will be repeated from a practical point of view.
Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support
Theoretical exam: theoretical
questions and troubleshooting(60%).
Simulation exercise: problem solving using Matlab and
Simulink (10%).
Questionnaires: completion of a questionnaire on the contents
of each issue of the subject (15%).
Teamwork: simulation of a power system using different Matlab
software (15%).
In order to pass the subject, it will be necessary to obtain at least a 5 out of 10 in the written exam.

1- TEACHING METHODOLOGY AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES
According to the determination of
the Escuela Politécnica Superior de Jaén for the
subject of Electrical Power Systems
Theoretical classes in a small group (A1) will be 100%
attended by the students as determined by the school, in the
assigned classroom and schedule. As for the
Small group classes (A2 - practical), according to the
Center's guidelines will be non-rotational in the laboratory and
assigned schedules.
The School may vary the percentage of attendance depending on the number of students and the capacity of the classroom/laboratory in accordance with health measures. In case of less than 100% attendance, there will be a periodic rotation of students as determined by the School.
