3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

1. Research from a gender and feminist perspective. Starting points and basic concepts. Theoretical and epistemological contributions to the scientific field.

2. Review of qualitative methodology from a gender perspective. The study gender approach and the production of qualitative data. The incorporation of the discourses of/about women.

3. Review of quantitative methodology from a gender perspective. Understanding why "numbers" are also gender matter. Connections between numbers and discourses.

4. Gender research for social intervention. Formulation of research for transfer to the professional field.

5. Gender biases. Keys to interpretation.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The attendance at class is mandatory (75%) in order to pass the course (which means that you can only miss 8 hours).

Large group teaching: lectures, presentation of theory and general examples.

Big group teaching: introductory activities.

Lectures: ICT tools.

 Classes in practical groups: solving exercises.

 Classes in practical groups: debates.

 Group/individual tutorials: clarification of doubts.

 Viewing of videos related to the subject and analysis of their content. Reading and studying of the proposed bibliography. Participation in class debates.

 Design of a reflexive project-work related to how to apply a research methodology with a gender perspective.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Attendance and participation 10%.

Lessons attendance is mandatory. To read in advance the proposed texts and to take part in class debates are recommended. All these activities implies continuous participation in the teaching-learning process.

Theoretical concepts 60% and practical concepts 30%:

Mastery and handling of the theoretical and practical knowledge of the subject. The theoretical concepts will be evaluated in a written work (individual and/or group) related to feminist research methodology. In it, the acquisition and application of the theoretical and practical knowledge of the subject will have to be illustrated.

In addition, practical exercises will be proposed in the classes, such as debates, analysis of quantitative data, readings, viewing of documentaries or analysis of news items, which can be carried out individually and/or in groups.

The student's final mark is global and will be the sum of the mark obtained in the work/exam, practical exercises (up to 90%) and participation (up to 10%), being essential to pass the work of the theoretical contents to add the rest of the marks.

The mark for practical work and participation will only be valid for the ordinary and extraordinary exams of the course in force.

These evaluation criteria will be explained directly by the teachers at the beginning of the lessons.

Any type of plagiarism or copying will be considered sufficient reason for the student to fail the course in the current term. Likewise, more than three spelling mistakes in assignments or exams will result in failure in the current exam session. The use of non-sexist and inclusive language is mandatory.

In the extraordinary exam, the same procedure as for the ordinary exam will be followed.

Theoretical classes

In-person 50%

Classes will be held synchronously (in the timetable officially established by the centre) in face-to-face and online format up to 50%. Periodic rotation of students.

Practical classes

In-person 50%

Development of participative practical sessions in classroom and broadcasted by videoconference for the rest of the group (up to 50%). Periodic rotation of students.

Tutorial sessions

Online

The tuto rial sessions will be carried out online (synchronously: video call; asynchronously: email). Students are reminded that teachers demand the right to disconnect, so emails will NOT be answered during the weekends.

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. In order to avoid frauds while sitting the exam, the exam will be answered using a videoconference system, being able the academic staff of the University of Jaén to compare and contrast the image of the person who is answering the exam with the student's photographic files. Likewise, in order to provide the exam with evidential content for revisions or claims, in accordance with current regulation frameworks, the exam will be recorded and stored.

Legitimacy: compliance with legal obligations (Universities Law) and other national and regional regulations currently in force.

Addressees: service providers who are the owners of the platforms where the exams are carried out and with whom the University of Jaén has signed the corresponding data access contracts.

Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above. In the event that you consider that your rights have been violated, you may submit a complaint to the Andalusian Council for Transparency and Data Protection www.ctpdandalucia.es
