3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

  • Local, State and European risk assessment regarding food and feed safety. Comprehensive programme to improve EU food safety, ensure a high level of consumer protection and restore and maintain confidence in the EU food suply.
  • Basis for the assurance of a high level of protection of human health and consumers´interest in relation to food, taking into account in particular the diversity in the supply of food including traditional products, and ensuring the effective functioning of the internal market. Common principles and responsibilities, means to provide a strong science base, efficient organisational arrangements and procedures to underpin decision-making in matters of food and feed safety.
  • Hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) as systematic preventive approach to food safety and alergenic, chemical and biological hazards in production processes that can cause the finished product to be unsafe, and designs measurements to reduce these risks to a safe level, with special attention to traceability.
  • Civil and penal responsibilities in food safety. 

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Introductory classes about all detailed contents of this subject are followed by the exposition by students of a homework about  a particularly interesting law in the field of food safety.

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Final grade report will be assessed considering both attendance and active involvement in theory classes (40%) and writting and exposition of the homework by the students (60%).

8. VIRTUAL / CLASSROOM TEACHING SCENARIO

Teaching methodology: 12 theory classes. Contact learning will be maintained whenever possible. The classes will be taught online, via videoconference, only if the number of students does not allow presencial ones. The exposition of the homeworks by the students will also be accoplished this way.

Tutorial assistance will be held online, via videoconference and by email all through the course.

   Resources: Software and online resources from University of Jaén will be used (Platform for online teaching, Google resources: Meet, Docs, Slides and Calendar), as well as online literature resources from the UJA library.

DATA PROTECTION CLAUSE (on line exams)

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. In order to avoid frauds while sitting the exam, the exam will be answered using a videoconference system, being able the academic staff of the University of Jaén to compare and contrast the image of the person who is answering the exam with the student's photographic files. Likewise, in order to provide the exam with evidential content for revisions or claims, in accordance with current regulation frameworks, the exam will be recorded and stored.

Legitimacy: compliance with legal obligations (Universities Law) and other national and regional regulations currently in force.

Addressees: service providers who are the owners of the platforms where the exams are carried out and with whom the University of Jaén has signed the corresponding data access contracts.

Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above. In the event that you consider that your rights have been violated, you may submit a complaint to the Andalusian Council for Transparency and Data Protection www.ctpdandalucia.es
