3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Unit 1.- BY-PRODUCTS AND RESIDUES OF OLIVE GROVE

Wood and olive pruning. Technologies of energetic  conversion. Integral use: thermochemical and biochemical conversion

 

Unit 2.- BY-PRODUCTS OF OIL MILLS

Pomaces from decánter of three and two exits. Olive leaves. Olive stones. Valuation of by-products of oil mills

 

Unit 3.- RESIDUES OF OIL MILLS

Alpechines and waters of washes: characterization of the effluent, vias of use and treatment.

Use of alpechines and other olive residues of the olive industry  in composting processes. Other solid and gaseous effluents.

 

Unit 4.- BY-PRODUCTS AND RESIDUES OF EXTRACTION PLANT OF OLIVE POMACES

Extracted pomaces and its applications: cogeneration. Olive stones: active carbon production. Purification of gas streams. Valorization of the byproducts of the extraction plants. Waste minimization

 

 

Unit 5.- RESIDUES AND BY-PRODUCTS OF REFINING PLANTS

Oleins and refining pastes. Solid wastes: decoloration earths, active carbons and filtering earths. Distillation of deodorization. Valorization of by-products

 

 

Unit 6.- BY-PRODUCTS OF OTHER INDUSTRIES

Characterization, treatment and management of wastes and by-products by industrial sectors

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

In the development of the subject four activities are differentiated: teaching of theoretical classes, realization of
practical classes (seminars and laboratory sections), other academically directed activities (tutorials
individual and collective), and continuous and global evaluation.

Theoretical classes are taught from 2 to 4 hours per week
In practical classes there are 3 sessions (from 2 to 4 hours / session), distributed in the indicated period.
The academically directed activities are developed in sessions constituted by seminars and technical visits to the three sectors that constitute the Olive Oil Industry: Oil mills, Extractors of pomaces, and Oil refining facilities.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Oral and written tests of the theoretical and practical knowledge.

- Assessment of exercises during the development of the subject

- Assessment of practical laboratory work and the final report that must perform

- Establishing a direct relationship with the student

8. VIRTUAL / CLASSROOM TEACHING SCENARIO

  The changes that appear affect the 'Assessment Instrument: Theoretical Exam', which decreases its weight and is replaced by a Non-face-to-face test, as indicated in the following table.

If necessary, the Non-Face-to-Face Exam will be held on the date and time established in the academic calendar for the extraordinary call II.

 

This non-face-to-face exam will be carried out as indicated below:

-On the one hand, the ILIAS O GOOGLE FORM virtual teaching platform will be used to carry out the evaluation test.

-On the other hand, to verify the identity of the students and take the test, the students will be required to connect to a Meet Google session, leaving the microphone and camera open.

9. VIRTUAL TEACHING SCENARIO

Initially, a totally face-to-face scenario is not going to be considered

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. In order to avoid frauds while sitting the exam, the exam will be answered using a videoconference system, being able the academic staff of the University of Jaén to compare and contrast the image of the person who is answering the exam with the student's photographic files. Likewise, in order to provide the exam with evidential content for revisions or claims, in accordance with current regulation frameworks, the exam will be recorded and stored.

Legitimacy: compliance with legal obligations (Universities Law) and other national and regional regulations currently in force.

Addressees: service providers who are the owners of the platforms where the exams are carried out and with whom the University of Jaén has signed the corresponding data access contracts.

Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above. In the event that you consider that your rights have been violated, you may submit a complaint to the Andalusian Council for Transparency and Data Protection www.ctpdandalucia.es
