4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

This course will depend on a complex interaction among the classroom teacher, the textbook, and the students, with their various learning-styles and differing degrees of dedication.  This is a reliable and relatively complete presentations of ancient Attic Greek and comprising sufficient materials of morphology and syntax, an important body of the vocabulary and preliminary exposure to the readings of the authentic passages.  It is prepared for a one-year college course in beginning Greek.

The college students who are going to matriculate in the Ancient Greek Course deserve full exposure to the morphology and grammar that they will encounter in real texts and full explanation of what they are asked to learn. 

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

 After the development of the theoretical-practical subject, the student must demonstrate a minimum level of mastery of the knowledge imparted,, first through an writeen exercice on a text studied and commented in class; second, a linguistic analysis of a phrase indicated in that text, and, third, answer to three brief questions related to a relevant work of Greek Literature, for example Homer, Xenophon, or the New Testament. 

In addition to interest of student in the course, a goog attitude,, involvement, mastery and ability to solve exercices will be valued.

Participation in class will be important for the final grade. 

In extraordinay calls it will be guaranteed that the student can achieve the highest grade.

8. VIRTUAL / CLASSROOM TEACHING SCENARIO

  In a multimodal or mixed environment we will be mainly concerned with gradual, inclusive and participatory teaching development of student, enabling a higher level of engagement in the educational process through the use of various technological tools ( classroom, videoconferencing via Meet, slideshows, etc.).

9. VIRTUAL TEACHING SCENARIO

Ia a non-presential environment,  the progress of the teaching of an ancient language such as Classical Greek requires the  student to make an additional effort in orden to achieve the competencies derived from remote learning.

Since it is a basically practical subject, it requieres a certain sckill in the use of modern technology applied to teaching (handling translations, commentaries, specialized lexicon and dictionaries), so to enable student to acquire basic literacy in Greek, perhaps in a more attractive and agreable way than the conventional grammar grind.  The target language in the XXI siecle was a contemporary form of spoken Greek, because the people do no tend to speak as they write, so the teacher can to shed light on the modern languages europeans.

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. Addressees: service providers who are the owners of the platforms where the exams are carried out and with whom the University of Jaén has signed the corresponding data access contracts.

Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above. In the event that you consider that your rights have been violated, you may submit a complaint to the Andalusian Council for Transparency and Data Protection www.ctpdandalucia.es
