3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

DIDACTIC UNIT 1. Introduction to geriatrics: General concepts. Demographic factors.

DIDACTIC UNIT 2. Assessment and physiotherapeutic intervention in geriatrics (Main geriatric syndromes)

DIDACTIC UNIT 3. Integration and contribution of the physiotherapist in the healthcare environment and environment of the PM.

DIDACTIC UNIT 1.

TOPICS: 1. Concept of Geriatrics and Gerontology. 2. Theories of aging and its biological foundations. The human aging process. 3. Demographic evolution of the population in Spain and Andalusia. Directives, institutions and services involved with the elderly population. Frailty in geriatric population. Dependence on the Elderly (PM).

DIDACTIC UNIT 2.

TOPICS: 1. Functional assessment and physiotherapy diagnosis in Older People (PM) 2. Physical activity in P.M. 3. Balance and Gait in PM, immobilization syndrome. Falls 4. Physiotherapy techniques in invalidating evolutionary orthopedic pathologies. 5. Physiotherapy techniques in post-traumatic and post-surgical syndromes. Amputations. 6. Physiotherapy techniques in cardiovascular disease or disability. 7. Physiotherapy techniques in respiratory diseases or disabilities. 8. Physiotherapy techniques in stroke. 9. Physiotherapy techniques in neurodegenerative pathologies: Alzheimer's, Dementias, Parkinson's.

DIDACTIC UNIT 3.

TOPICS: 1. Integration and contribution of the physiotherapist in multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive care of PM. 2. Criteria for assessing the environment and the physical and social environment of PM in relation to their functional assessment. 3. Contributions of Physiotherapy in the promotion of health in the elderly population 4. Physiotherapy care directed to the geriatric caregiver. Promotion-Education in self-care.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Activity 1: Large group participatory theory classes.

Activity 2: Carrying out in small groups a work related to the subject: Search and elaboration of information and handling of Tics.

Activity 3: Active participation in the practices, with the development of knowledge, abilities and skills for physiotherapy interaction with the elderly.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

The evaluation consists of 3 variables with the weight in percentage indicated: Written exercise on the agenda: (50%) Carrying out a work in small groups: (30%) Continuous evaluation of the practices (20%)

TEACHING METHODOLOGY DESCRIPTION
Large group lecture classes All teaching activities (including evaluation) will be face-to-face to the extent that the social and health situation allows.

Participative master classes held in the teaching classroom and broadcast by videoconference to the rest of the group. Periodic rotation of students.

The lectures could also be viewed by asynchronous recording if some exceptional or technical problem occurs.

In the event that the capacity of the classrooms does not allow the attendance to the classroom of a number of students similar to half the group to be monitored, the theoretical teaching will be carried out through synchronous online sessions.

Classes in practical groups / small group

All teaching activities (including evaluation) will be face-to-face to the extent that the social and health situation allows.

Practical training sessions with 100% attendance, following the methodology set out in sections 10 and 11 of this guide.

They will be carried out adopting all the security measures to carry them out.

Tutorials Online The tutorials will be carried out online (synchronous and asynchronous)

 

II. EVALUATION SYSTEM

Synchronous final test online through the Google Forms application, depending on availability (with the possibility of recording it through Google Meet), on the date established by the Faculty of Health Sciences for each of the official calls, which will account for 50% of the final grade.

The acquisition of practical knowledge will also be evaluated, which will mean 50% of the final grade, through oral-practical tests, and / or by submitting written or audiovisual works through the means available at the University of Jaén .

III. RESOURCES

The computer resources provided by the University of Jaén (Videoconference through Google Meet, other applications in the Google environment: Docs, Slides, Calendar, Drive, Forms) will be used in order to encourage student participation, as well as electronic bibliographic resources available in the library of the University of Jaén

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above. In the event that you consider that your rights have been violated, you may submit a complaint to the Andalusian Council for Transparency and Data Protection www.ctpdandalucia.es
