4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

1 Large group

The methodology to be followed in the expository classes in a large group will be a mixture between master classes, introductory activities to the subject, as well as presentations and exhibitions with a high degree of practical content in the classroom designated by the centre for the subject.

In addition to the exposition of the theoretical contents of the subject, the ability to collect and interpret data and handle complex concepts within Telematics Engineering will be developed and enhanced, in order to make judgments that involve reflection on ethical and social issues.

The student must follow the professor's presentation with the material delivered for this purpose, either notes or a presentation with slides, which must be completed with their own notes and with the subsequent revision of the basic and / or recommended bibliography. Attendance, as well as active, respectful and responsible participation, either to raise doubts or to answer the teacher's requirements or questions, will be positively evaluated in its corresponding factor.

The autonomous work of the student, should focus on the review of the concepts and theoretical aspects seen in the class, carrying out exercises, as well as the study of them with the material provided by the teacher, student notes and bibliography.

2 small group classes

The work in the laboratory will focus on the development of the applications, or learning tasks designated by the teacher, that culminate in the completion of the client or server programs, the objective of the practice, which will continue throughout the course, a project-based learning methodology.

Therefore, during the practical sessions, the design and implementation work of the applications marked by the different practices must be carried out, in order to have the supervision of the teacher.

In addition, work in a collaborative environment will be encouraged, as well as mixing with the communication of results, with special emphasis on the need for continuous training typical of activities related to telecommunications throughout their professional lives independently.

Attendance, as well as active, respectful and responsible participation, either to raise doubts or to answer the teacher's requests or questions, will be positively evaluated in its corresponding factor.

Regarding autonomous work, it will focus on preparing the documentation to be delivered for each practice, as well as completing the work started in the laboratory and which could not be completed in the corresponding session.

3 Collective tutorials

The collective tutorials will be used in the resolution of doubts, monitoring and supervision of the work and exercises as well as in the attendance and participation in the different seminars planned in the subject, in addition to talks, conferences, workshops and / or workshops, designated by the teacher, in order to complete and update the training and obtain general, transversal and / or specific competencies defined for this activity, such as the value of continuous training, entrepreneurship or the review of technological developments in the subject.

Attendance, as well as active, respectful and responsible participation in the aforementioned activities, will be evaluated according to the provisions of the evaluation system section of this guide.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT

The continuous evaluation modality is divided into two parts:

- The evaluation of the work during the school period, according to the tasks defined for that purpose.

- And a FINAL TEST once said school period has ended.

The distribution of both parts, according to the activities described in the previous table, is as follows:

S2 Theoretical concepts of matter

The grades obtained in one aspect during the school period in the continuous evaluation will be maintained until the end of the course.

Written exam

Students must take a written exam that assesses the theoretical and operational aspects of the subject (S2 and S3) at the end of the semester (on the date established in the exam period). This final evaluation is carried out to evaluate to what extent the students have acquired all the competences and learning outcomes established for these aspects. The weight of this exam is 50% of each of the aspects evaluated (S2 and S3).

Any book, note, documentation or equipment allowed for this final exam must be approved by the teacher.

Final evaluation

Students must earn a grade greater than or equal to 4 (out of 10) on S4 to maintain this method of assessment (practical laboratory or computer work). Students will pass the subject through this evaluation method obtaining a grade greater than or equal to 5.0 out of 10 in the general result (continuous assessment and written exam), but with the condition of obtaining a grade greater than or equal to 4.0 in the Exam Written and in S4.

Students can withdraw from the General Assessment at any time, but cannot choose it again, so they will only be assessed by the UNIQUE TEST method.

UNIQUE TEST

This type of assessment is based on a single written exam that assesses all aspects of the subject, evaluating the acquisition by students of all the competencies and learning outcomes established in the subject. This examination will take place during the examination period on a date established by the center. The final exam is weighted as follows:

- Attendance and participation (S1), Theoretical concepts (S2) and Exercises, problems and case studies (S3): 70%.

- Practical laboratory and computer work (S4): 30%.

To pass the course, the student must have grades higher than or equal to 5.0 out of 10 in each part of the final exam.

Students who have already fulfilled the requirements of aspect S4 (practical laboratory or computer work) through the CONTINUOUS EVALUATION, when obtaining a score greater than or equal to 5.0 out of 10, do not have to do this part in the UNIQUE TEST evaluation. .

Those aspects successfully completed with a grade greater than or equal to 5.0 will be considered approved during that academic year.
