3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

THEME 1: Water as a resource. Its use. Particular case of Andalusia

Theme introduction which is divided into three different blocks; - Analyse the traditional uses of water and the different technical solutions throughout history. - To study the concepts derived from considering water as a scarce resource and consequently the problems in the regulation of basins, and finally - To learn about the hydrological planning of Andalusia.

THEME 2: Water Catchment

The subject begins with knowledge of flow measurement and then the different types of water catchments are studied, dividing them into two large groups of water intakes, according to the characteristics to be used (surface and non-surface), the most effective solutions are analysed in each of the cases assessed, and as an annex to this subject the protection perimeters of the catchments are defined.

THEME 3: Water treatment of water intended for human consumption Drinking water treatment.

Firstly, the quality of available water and the parameters that define it are analysed, and then the specific treatments for water intended for human consumption are developed, broken down into different chapters (pre-treatment, storage, pre-chlorination, aeration, clarification and disinfection), as well as specific treatments for certain water qualities.

THEME 4: Water treatment in mining and industry

From the point of view of the elemental functions of water in both mining and industry, the alterations to water in its use and conditioning for use in the same, as well as its reuse, are analysed. The metallurgical industries, the paper industries, the agricultural and food industries and the cooling circuits are specifically studied.

THEME 5: Regulation and storage.

In this topic, the aim is to establish the design parameters of a network, starting with the calculation of consumption flows, then defining the regulation and storage of water with the description of the characteristics of the tanks, and finally studying the different methodologies for calculating the capacity and location of the different types of tanks.

THEME 6: Distribution networks. Network design. Network calculation

It develops, with different solutions, the problems of supply, in order to know how to address the problem of design and calculation of networks for any type of urban and / or industrial, with special interest in the management of hydraulic networks calculation.

TOPIC 7: Pipes and accessories in networks

Once the network calculation has been studied, this topic aims to solve the problems of network installation, the calculations and conditions necessary for the choice of the material to be installed, as well as the knowledge of the special pieces and their correct installation in each of the most typical cases of network needs.

THEME 8: Sewer systems

The evacuation of the waste water is conditioned by the use of it; this is how the main evacuation strategies are developed, calculations of the evacuation flows, design of the sewer systems and the description of the parts and elements necessary for their correct design and installation.

THEME 9: Wastewater treatment

The last element of a complete network is water treatment. Here, the different treatments for a correct water purification are studied, depending on its previous use, as well as the necessary installations for the purification and the possibility of reusing it.

THEME 10: Hydraulic installations in different types of works.

The installations in different types of works are studied, as well as the existing regulations. In this topic, the aim is to know how to correctly handle the calculation of the installations as well as the elements necessary for them.
