The default teaching language will be Spanish. 

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

The student final mark will be the weighted average of the marks obtained in the following items:

• A final written exam, where students will have to answer some short theoretical questions and solve some exercises (weight: 80%). 
• In-class tests, where students will have to solve some exercises by using the statisitcal software R (weight: 20%).

1) TEACHING METHODOLOGY AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES

The default teaching language will be Spanish. All activities will be face-to-face as far as the health situation allows, or 50% face-to-face (with group rotation and videoconference broadcast to the rest of the group), depending on the number of students enrolled in the subject and the capacity of the classroom.

When appropriate, the teaching staff reserve the right to deny capture, publication,  broadcasting  or reproduction of their speech, image, voice and explanations.

2) ASSESSMENT SYSTEM

Face-to-face final exam (written test of exercises and practical problems):  80%.

Continuous assessment activities (resolution of practical cases with computer, which will be assessed throughout the teaching period): 20%.  Due to the continuous nature of these practical tests, their mark may be kept for the 2nd Extraordinary Call of this academic year. Nonetheless, students who have not completed all continuous assessment activities, for some justified reason, can take a single global exam in which both the acquisition of knowledge and the ability to apply it to practical situations will be assessed.

A student will be marked as "No presentado" (no mark) if they do not take any tests or continuous assessment tasks and do not take the final exam.

If the exam or some of the assessment tests could not be carried out face-to-face, they will be carried out online (see the non-attendance scenario  and the data protection clause included in this syllabus).

All assessment material will be available in English.

3)   RESOURCES

- Virtual PC service provided by the University of Jaén (to access the R software in case you have difficulties installing it on your personal computer).

Tutorial sessions will be held face-to-face or online by any of the available communication channels  (videoconference with Google Meet, forum, chat or email), preferably at the scheduled time indicated in this syllabus or exceptionally at a different time, upon request.

Both the continuous assessment tests and the exam will be online. To guarantee the reliability of this assessment system, the following measures will be taken:

1. If the number of students allows it, the continuous assessment tests on theoretical content may be carried out orally and individually.
2. The exam will be divided into different parts and the response time of each one will be limited.
3. Both the continuous assessment tests and the exam will be aimed at evaluating the ability to understand the contents, the correct application of techniques and the interpretation of solutions.
4. While taking the continuous assessment tests and the exam, the students must be connected to a  Google Meet session, keeping the microphone and camera both open.
5. The online evaluation tests may be recorded, in order to provide them with evidential content for revisions or claims, according to the data protection clause included in this syllabus.

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. In order to avoid frauds while sitting the exam, the exam will be answered using a videoconference system, being able the academic staff of the University of Jaén to compare and contrast the image of the person who is answering the exam with the student's photographic files. Likewise, in order to provide the exam with evidential content for revisions or claims, in accordance with current regulation frameworks, the exam will be recorded and stored.

Legitimacy: compliance with legal obligations (Universities Law) and other national and regional regulations currently in force.

Addressees: service providers who are the owners of the platforms where the exams are carried out and with whom the University of Jaén has signed the corresponding data access contracts.

Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above. In the event that you consider that your rights have been violated, you may submit a complaint to the Andalusian Council for Transparency and Data Protection www.ctpdandalucia.es

Procedure aim: To manage proper recordings of teaching sessions with the aim of facilitating learning process under a multimodal and/or online teaching

Period for record storage: Images will be kept during legal term according to regulations in force

Legitimacy: Data will be managed according to legal regulations (Organic Law 6/2001, December 21, on Universities) and given consent provided by selecting corresponding box in legal admission documents

Data recipients (transfers or assignments): Any person allowed to get access to every teaching modality

Rights: You may exercise your rights of access, rectification, cancellation, portability, limitation of processing, deletion or, where appropriate, opposition. To exercise these rights, you must submit a written request to the Information, Registration and Electronic Administration Service of the University of Jaen at the address above, or by e-mail to the address above.
