4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Trainning activities Format (Face-to-face/online) Teaching methodology (description)
A1 - Large Group lectures Face-to-face  There will be 25 sessions where the following activities will be carried out: a series of lectures or master classes, where each aspect of the subject will be described, a lecture to make the presentation and introduction of the course, and several lectures dedicated to problem solving and presentation of essays.
A2 - Small group lectures
Face-to-face
During these 25 lectures of small group classes, a series of practices will be presented and developed. These practices must be solved by the students and presented to the professor during the teaching period and during class time.

A3 - Collective and individual tutorials

Face-to-face + online

Individual and group tutorials will be carried out in the teacher's office at the times established for this purpose or online through the platform provided for this task by the University of Jaén.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The final mark is divided by:

  • Attendance and involvement: 5% of the final mark. This mark is obtained when students are actively engaged in classes, debates and group work.
  • Theoretical concepts: 60% of the final mark. This mark is calculated taking a written test.
  • Practical skills: 30% of the final mark. This mark is obtained from teachers observations, practical exercises defense and/or practical exam.
  • Other activities: 5% of the final mark.  This mark is calculated from individual work.

There are two ways of evaluating these activities

  • Global evaluation: student participation in classroom and seminars. Besides, students should carry out, explain and debate suggested practical cases (both in practical and theoretical classes).
  • Ordinary evaluation: writing examination of theoretical contents and reports of the practical classes that should be defended by the students, otherwise, they should pass a practical exam.

Moreover, these marks are obtained with these considerations:

  • Students who attend practical classes may not have to take the practical exam. In this case, the mark for the practical part will be obtained by means of continuous evaluation based on students reports about the practical problems and on the defense of these reports.
  • If student does not pass the practical part by means of continuous evaluation or does not attend the 80% of the practical classes, they will take a practical exam the same day as the ordinary exam.
  • If students want to present a voluntary exercise, it should be presented in the date indicated by the teacher and always before the end of the term.
  • The marks obtained in the term related to practical part, student participation and exercises presented are kept for the academic year.
  • To pass the subject, students must obtain a final mark of 5 over 10 and pass both the theoretical part and the practical part (with a minimum mark of 5 over 10 in each one of them).

7. VIRTUAL / CLASSROOM TEACHING SCENARIO

1) TEACHING METHODOLOGY AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES.

The activities that cannot be carried out in a face-to-face mode will be developed in a semi-attendance format with rotational assistance as established in the document of Academic Criteria for the adaptation of teaching during the 2021 academic year in relation to the pandemic caused by the COVID-19, approved in the GC nº17 of 2 July 2020 of the University of Jaén. These activities will be carried out using videoconference systems, provided that the capacity and infrastructure of the space assigned for teaching the course allow it. The degree of attendance in this scenario will depend on the classroom assigned in this course. This degree will be set at the range of 25%-50% of the students.

Below there is a summary table of the detailed methodology followed in this mode:

Trainning activities Format (Face-to-face/online) Teaching methodology (description)
A1 - Large Group lectures Face-to-face  rotatory [20-50]% + online There will be 25 sessions where the following activities will be carried out: a series of lectures or master classes, where each aspect of the subject will be described, a lecture to make the presentation and introduction of the course, and several lectures dedicated to problem solving and presentation of essays. The students who are on rotation will attend the online sessions using the software/hardware provided by the University of Jaén.

The analysis, development of the practices and the resolution of doubts will be carried out both in face-to-face mode and in an online mode through the use of software and hardware enabled by the University of Jaén for this purpose. The defence of the practices will always be done during the face-to-face sessions during the rotating shift. For this purpose, the delivery of the exercises will be planned in advance.
