3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

The teaching will be theoretical-practical with intercalation of practical examples and case studies during the development of the classes.

Topic 1. Characteristics of karst aquifers: Karst materials Karstification and the resulting forms. Hydrograph analysis. Geological and geomorphological and hydrodynamic methods applied to the investigation of these aquifers. Hydrogeochemistry of karst aquifers. Water quality (4 hours). Exercises to apply theoretical content (3 hours)

Unit 2. Hydrogeological management of cavities: Management of karst cavities. Mapping methods of vulnerability to contamination of karst cavities and aquifers. Cave protection. (4 hours).

Unit 3. Hydrogeological management of wetlands and detrital aquifers: Geological classification of wetlands. Inland wetlands: countryside wetlands. Basic aspects of the countryside wetland hydrogeology and conceptual models. Wetland typologies and wetland protection. (4 hours). Exercises to apply theoretical content (2 hours).

Topic 4. General principles of sustainability of aquatic ecosystems (2 hours)

Unit 5. Environmental problems and alterations of aquatic ecosystems (2 hours)

Topic 6. Management of aquatic ecosystems: restoration and recovery. (2 hours)

Unit 7. Analysis of management projects developed in aquatic systems (2 hours).

Unit 8. Composition, structure and dynamics of the edapho-hygrophilous vegetation: Taxonomic, biotypic and chorotypic spectra of the flora of aquatic ecosystems. Structure of vegetation linked to water. Temporal and spatial dynamics of vegetation linked to water (series, geoseries and micro-geoseries of vegetation). (2.5 hours).

 Unit 9. Classification of habitats linked to water. Vegetation types of Community Interest and Prioritary Habitats of the European Habitats Directive. (1.5 hours).

Topic 10. Sustainable uses of water resources and the supply and cultural services of aquatic ecosystems. Impact evaluation and responses. (4 hours).

FIELD PRACTICE

A field trip will be made to an environment close to the university where the practical aspects developed in the theory topics will be discussed (6 hours).

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Teaching will organize the following methodologies:

Expository classes in Large Group, A1, (30 hours) where the theoretical aspects of the subject will be addressed and the students will be trained in the basic knowledge to address the applied part of it. The skills to develop with this methodology are: E05MHA, CB10, CT4, G02MHAB, CT3, E06MH, CT5, E04MHA, G03MHABI, CB6, CB8, CB7, CB9, E19MHAB, G04MHABI, G01MHAB. The teaching methodology used will be M1a 'Large group teaching: master classes, exposition of theory and general examples and conferences' and M1b 'Large group teaching: presentation of works'
Small group activities, A2a (10 hours) whose main competence is CB6 and the methodology used will be M2b 'Teaching in small groups: practical field activities' and M2c 'Teaching in small groups: practical classroom activities'.
A21 - Autonomous work of the student (study, readings, exercises, etc.). 6th total hours and a CT4 competition. The teaching methodology is M13.

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The evaluation will be carried out following the next criteria:

S2. Exam on the theoretical and practical concepts of the subject, with written tests (percentage 70%).

Minimum qualifications:
To successfully pass the subject, it will be necessary to obtain a grade equal to or greater than 5 in
the whole of the subject. Only weighted average will be made if the student gets at least 4.5 in the evaluation of the practices and 4.5 in the theoretical exam.

S3. Carrying out work, cases or practical exercises. Assistance and participation at class. Delivery of exercises. An assessment will be made of the activities carried out during the course and delivered to the teaching staff. Weight of 30%.

7. VIRTUAL / CLASSROOM TEACHING SCENARIO

In Multimodal or Mixed Scenario all teaching activities -evaluation included- will be face-to-face to the extent that the socio-sanitary situation allows.

29 hours of participatory master classes, divided into sessions of 2 or 3 hours, held in the classroom and broadcast by videoconference to the rest of the group. Periodic rotation of students.

5 hours of problem solving / exercises in the assigned time

Face-to-face format to the extent that the social and health situation allows

5 practical sessions, lasting 1 hour each, applying the rotation in small groups of 50%. Retransmission of practical classes to the rest of the group.

A field trip of 6 hours will carry out.

The tutoring sessions will be held in person or online depending on the sanitary conditions.

 In this scenario, the evaluation will be face-to-face to the extent that the socio-sanitary situation allows it.

II. EVALUATION SYSTEM

There will be a continuous assessment throughout the course through the delivery of activities, both theoretical and practical, by students through the Virtual Teaching Platform of the University of Jaén, which will represent 30% of the grade final. A final test will also be carried out, face-to-face if the socio-sanitary situation allows it, and if it is not possible, a synchronous online test will be carried out through the Google Forms application, on the date established by the Master Coordination Commission for each of the official calls, which will represent 70% of the final grade.

Minimum qualifications:

In order to successfully pass the subject, it will be necessary to obtain a grade equal to or greater than 5 in the whole subject (see percentages in the Assessment System). It will only be done if the student scores at least 4.5 in the evaluation of the practices and 4.5 in the theoretical exam. 

 

III. MEANS

The computer resources provided by the University of Jaén (Virtual Teaching Platform, Videoconference through GoogleMeet, other applications in the Google environment: Docs, Slides, Calendar, Drive) will be used in order to encourage student participation, as well as resources Electronic bibliographies available in the library of the University of Jaén.

EVALUATION SYSTEM

There will be a continuous assessment throughout the course through the delivery of activities, both theoretical and practical, by students through the Virtual Teaching Platform of the University of Jaén, which will represent 40% of the grade final. There will also be a synchronous final test online through the ILIAS Platform or the Google Forms application, depending on availability, on the date established by the Academic Commission of the Master for each of the official calls, which will represent 60% of the final score.

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. In order to avoid frauds while sitting the exam, the exam will be answered using a videoconference system, being able the academic staff of the University of Jaén to compare and contrast the image of the person who is answering the exam with the student's photographic files. Addressees: service providers who are the owners of the platforms where the exams are carried out and with whom the University of Jaén has signed the corresponding data access contracts.

Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above.
