4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The subject will be organized in theoretical classes, practical classes and autonomous work of the student. In the theoretical classes, the most relevant aspects of the subject will be exposed and the students will be guided in the conceptual foundations of the subject's contents, guiding the process in a way that allows full autonomy in the search for resources and the construction of intervention strategies. appropriate to each situation. Favoring knowledge, inquiry and experimentation.

Lectures will be used, fostering the active, reflective and critical participation of the students. Giving rise to debates, discussion groups, and other strategies appropriate to the educational level in which we find ourselves.

To facilitate the dynamics of the teaching staff presentations, audiovisual media will be used to allow better monitoring by the student of the content developed. In addition, the exhibitions will be accompanied by documentation that will be provided by means of the virtual teaching platform of the University of Jaén.

The practical classes will take place in the different spaces of the Sports Pavilion of the University of Jaén. They will be considered from a double perspective, as participants and as those responsible for the development of activities. It is about doing and knowing what, how, for what and when it is done.

Autonomous and, therefore, individual learning is of great importance in the teaching model used. Even seeking avenues of cooperation with other colleagues will depend essentially on personal initiative. That is why it is encouraged to show an open and participatory attitude, motivation being an essential part in order to achieve the objectives set. Self-organization, search for help, rational planning of effort, study and dedication according to the demands of the subject, are some important variables to take into account.

We insist that, due to the characteristics of the subject, the contents developed aim to offer a global vision, starting point, of the different manifestations of physical activity and sport in its application to older adults. If we add a large number of teachers to develop the subject, we are clearly positioning ourselves in a seminar-type structure. Information is issued, analyzed, debated, conclusions drawn. Always from the point of view of not restricting the contents to be worked on. If this aspect is not properly assessed, the contents worked on can be oversized.

Another aspect that is intended to stimulate is group interaction. Professional development requires cooperation-collaboration between professionals, assuming different roles and responsibilities that allow, among all, to achieve the desired goals. Working in study groups or teams, directly or through the use of the forum and chat, will promote the acquisition of professional skills that are difficult to achieve independently. It also makes it possible to establish micro-teaching processes, the students being points of reinforcement of the learning of their peers.

However, after what has been said, we clarify that from a methodological perspective we are not closed to adapting the strategies to the dynamics of the group and its logical evolution.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Block 1 .- Carrying out a written test of the theoretical and practical content developed in the subject (20% of the total mark).

Block 2.- Active participation in theoretical and practical classes: students who attend class and actively participate in the development of the sessions will be able to obtain an assessment of 20% of the total grade. The realization of practical proposals in class individually or in groups will be valued.

Block 3.- Works (60% of the overall grade). Giving continuity to the objectives of the Master, two work options are proposed, characterized by being open to the proposals of the participants.

- Intervention project in physical activity with older people: The subject of the work must be directly related to any of the topics developed in the subject. In exceptional cases, the completion of work that does not have a specific treatment in the fourteen topics addressed may be assessed, provided that the student proposes and justifies its development. The project will be tutored by one of the professors of the subject who, once the topic has been chosen, will be assigned by the professor responsible for it.

- Investigation project. It is about starting a research work from the perspective of physical activity and health in older people. The work must respond to the basic structure of a research report, complying with the requirements of the scientific method. The document review sections, problem definition, hypothesis, work objectives and methodology must be completed. It is not an essential requirement to put it into practice and obtain results. Although it can be a starting point for the final work of the Master and as the beginning of the future research project in case of deciding to continue with the doctorate.

Block 4.- As a complement to the previous sections, the student may submit voluntary works agreed with the teacher to raise the grade or alleviate any deficit in block 1, 2 or 3 (this proposal will represent a maximum of 20% of the total mark) . It may be the case of not taking the written test (block 1) and replacing it with this section.

Block 5.- Students who do not attend class must take an exam, which will be theoretical and practical.
