3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

PEDAGOGY SYLLABUS

Unit 1. Background of Primary Education in the world and in Spain.

Background of Primary Education worldwide. Primary education in Spain: Historical aspects.

Unit 2. Factors, functions and character of Primary Education.

General characteristics of primary education. Objectives of primary education. Organization of primary education.

Unit 3. Modalities of intervention inside and outside the classroom.

Different modalities of intervention inside the classroom. Different modalities of intervention outside the classroom.

Unit 4. Classroom climate, work and individual effort.

Previous concepts: school climate. Levels of school climate. Types of classroom climate. Factors that determine the school climate. Teacher's role, student's role. Some strategies to favor classroom climate.

Unit 5. Parents and community participation in Primary Education institutions. The participation of parents in the educational centers.

Family participation and tutorial action. The role of the family in the students' school motivation. Communication with families, school and community.

Unit 6. Contexts and curricular models of Primary Education.

Introductory aspects. Curricular models. The curriculum of primary education. Andalusian autonomous community of Andalusia's own teachings for primary education.

 

PSYCHOLOGY SYLLABUS

Unit 7. Interaction and communication processes in the classroom: applications to teaching.

Relationship between equals in the classroom. Evaluation of social status in the classroom. Teacher-student relationship. Coexistence in the classroom. Improving classroom climate.

Unit 8. Discipline in the classroom: control techniques and problem prevention.

Previous concepts. Evaluation and functional analysis of behavior. Intervention in behavior problems. Techniques based on Instrumental Conditioning. Techniques to establish behaviors. Techniques to increase or maintain behaviors. Techniques to decrease or extinguish behaviors. Techniques based on self-instructions.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The methodology and activities will be carried out throughout the course. They will consist of expository activities in large groups, classes in practice groups and tutorials.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

In order to pass the course, it is essential to have passed both the theoretical and practical parts of the subject. The Pedagogy part will mean a 6.8 of the final grade, while the Psychology part a 3.2.

If any of the parts is failed, the grades of the part passed in the four-month period will be kept for the Extraordinary II call, but never for subsequent courses.

Attendance to at least 80% of the practical classes is compulsory. If the minimum attendance to the practical sessions is not fulfilled, the practical contents can only be recovered in the Extraordinary II exam.

7. VIRTUAL / CLASSROOM TEACHING SCENARIO

 

Training Activities

Teaching methodology   Description

A01. Large group lectures

 

 

Face-to-face up to 50%

25 one-hour theoretical sessions, conducted in the classroom and retransmitted by videoconference to the rest of the group, technical conditions permitting. Periodic rotation of students.

A02. Classes in practice groups

 

Face-to-face up to 50%

Development of 13 practical sessions of one hour duration, applying the rotation in groups. Retransmission of practical classes to the rest of the group, if the technical conditions allow it.

Tutoring

Online

Tutoring will be carried out online. 

 

In the multimodal scenario, the same evaluation criteria established in the face-to-face system are maintained. The evaluation test will be carried out face-to-face if health conditions allow it. And the evaluation of the practical activities will be through the delivery of work through the instruments determined by the faculty responsible for the subject. If the situation does not allow the realization of the exam in person, it will be carried out online and synchronously, through the tools that the faculty determines for the realization of the same and that will be communicated to the students with sufficient notice.

25 sessions of theoretical classes with a duration of one hour, conducted by videoconference.

Substitution of the 13 one-hour practical sessions by the realization of the same ones, but using online collaborative tools for their elaboration, presentation and defense.

All the tutoring will be carried out online .

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. In order to avoid frauds while sitting the exam, the exam will be answered using a videoconference system, being able the academic staff of the University of Jaén to compare and contrast the image of the person who is answering the exam with the student's photographic files. Likewise, in order to provide the exam with evidential content for revisions or claims, in accordance with current regulation frameworks, the exam will be recorded and stored.

Legitimacy: compliance with legal obligations (Universities Law) and other national and regional regulations currently in force.

Addressees: service providers who are the owners of the platforms where the exams are carried out and with whom the University of Jaén has signed the corresponding data access contracts.

Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above. In the event that you consider that your rights have been violated, you may submit a complaint to the Andalusian Council for Transparency and Data Protection www.ctpdandalucia.es
