A1. Lectures with big group of students  

They are based in the explanation of the theory concepts, exercises and practical problems of the course.

All the contents of the subject appear in English in the bibliography. Moreover, exists plenty of information available in Internet.

A2. Lectures with practical groups

They are developed in the lab, and they are based on the implementation of Matlab applications by the students.

A3. Collective tutorial classes

They are based on seminars and doubt resolution of the students.

The use of electronic devices in classes and exams is forbidden except that they are required for the right development of learning activities and always with the authorization of the lecturer.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

OVERALL EVALUATION

This assessment method is organised according to the activities described in the previous table. The evaluation process consists of:

- The evaluation of the tasks defined in the Teaching Guide during the Teaching period.

- A final Written Exam during the Examination period.

The assessment aspects evaluated in both parts and their contribution to the final mark are summarized in the following table:

Marks obtained during the Teaching period (as a record of the continuous evaluation process) will be kept until the end of the academic year.

Written Exam

The students have to make a Written Exam that assesses the theoretical and operating aspects of the subject (S2 and S3) at the end of the semester (at the date established in the examination period). This final evaluation is made to assess the extent to which the students have acquired all the competences and learning outcomes established for those aspects. The weight of this exam is the 50% of each of the evaluated aspects (S2 and S3).

Any books, notes, documentation, or equipment allowed for this Final Exam have to be approved by the lecturer.

Final assessment

The students must obtain a mark higher or equal to 4 (out of 10) in S4 to keep this evaluation method (Laboratory or computer practical work). The students will pass the subject through this evaluation method by getting a mark higher or equal than 5.0 out of 10 in the overall result (continuous evaluation and written exam), but with the condition of obtaining a mark higher or equal to 4.0 in the Written Exam and in S4.

FINAL EXAM EVALUATION

This kind of evaluation is based in only one written exam that evaluates all the aspects of the subject, by assessing the students´ acquisition of all the competences and learning outcomes established in the subject. This exam will take place during the Examination period on a date established by the centre. The final exam is weighted in the following way:

- Attendance and participation (S1), theoretical concepts (S2) and Exercises, problems and study cases (S3): 70%.

- Laboratory and computer practical work (S4): 30%.

In order to pass the subject, the student must have marks higher or equal to 5.0 out of 10 at each part of the final exam.

The students who have already fulfil the requirements of aspect S4 (Laboratory or computer practical work) through the OVERALL EVALUATION, by obtaining a mark higher or equal to 5.0 out of 10 do not have to make this part in the FINAL EXAM evaluation.

Those aspects successfully completed with a mark higher or equal to 5.0 will be considered passing during that academic year.

Using this approach, the following competences will be evaluated:: CB2, CB3, CB4, CB5, CG4, CG9, ST1, ST2 and ST3

Obtaining a positive evaluation indicates that the student has reached the following learning results of the module: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 14, 15, 16, 21 and 22.

The use of electronic devices in classes and exams is forbidden except that they are required for the right develoment of learning activities and always with the authorization of the lecturer.

For 50% attendance, it is planned to carry out the practices on a rotating basis and substitute activities that allow said rotation, consisting mainly of carrying out software-type practices, preparation of subsequent hardware practices, analysis of hardware practices already carried out, and problem solving and case studies.

The schedule can vary mainly due to the change from multi-modal scenario to the online one.

Evaluation system

There are no changes in the evaluation format (weights of each section) or in what is specified in the detailed evaluation.

Expository classes in large groups or practice groups at 50%

In the case of 50% attendance, the following resources will need to be used:

- Videoconference infrastructure in the classroom or laboratory consisting of a video and audio capture system for use in a videoconference system or virtual classroom such as Google Meet or BigBlueButton.

Individual media (students in non-face-to-face format)

- PC equipment or similar.

- Videoconference system or virtual classroom such as Google Meet or BigBlueButton.

 Common means (teachers and students):

- Use of interactive tools: screen sharing to use comments as a virtual whiteboard in PDF presentations.

- Use of the teaching platform of the University of Jaén: messaging, forums, tasks, activities and means of evaluation.

Expository lectures in large group or practice groups at 100%

Given that the attendance in the Classes in practice groups is 100%, no exceptional resources are foreseen for them.

To carry out the practical laboratory blocks, the hardware sessions will be replaced by software sessions fundamentally based on the Optsim simulation software by remote connection to the laboratory equipment.

Since all the teaching, either in the exposition classes in large groups or in the classes in practice groups, be taught online, the following resources will need to be used:

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. In order to avoid frauds while sitting the exam, the exam will be answered using a videoconference system, being able the academic staff of the University of Jaén to compare and contrast the image of the person who is answering the exam with the student's photographic files. Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above.
