4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Teaching will be
developed through:

Lectures. The subject concepts are presented
through multimedia presentations, theoretical presentations and
implementation examples.

Practices. develops contents through practical
activities involving the application knowledge.

Group tutorials. This activity will be organized
in short seminars where it would study by problems in some of the
topics studied in master class.

Seminars. Seminars of topics related to the context in which the course is organized.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The rating
system will be governed by the provisions of RD 1125/2003 of 5 of
September by the European credit system and the grading system in
the university degrees of character oficial. For the evaluation of
the subject is established, it shall review and process critical
evaluation (65% of the final grade for the course), but, in order
to deprive the review has taken into account other evaluation
criteria such as attendance and participation in class, reports
laboratory practices and delivery of activitiesproposed by the
profesor.

In regard to
examination, it is necessary that students acquire a minimum rating
of five points of ten in order to pass the course. It should be
added that attendance at practices and delivery of reports of
practices is mandatory. Additionally, you must score at least 3
points of 10 in each of the memories presented practices.
Non-delivery of reports of practical on dates set by the teacher
will stay the course.

As synchronous resources are the following:

  • Tutorial sessions via videoconferences.

As asynchronous resources are the following:

  • Presentations of the content and resolution of exercises through the â€ËÅ“docencia virtual’ platform.
  • Creation of doubt consultation tools through the â€ËÅ“docencia virtual’ platform.

8. VIRTUAL TEACHING SCENARIO

1) TEACHING METHODOLOGY AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES

Training activities

Format

Teaching methodology - Description

A1 - Expository lessons in large group

Online

The face-to-face lectures will be replaced by asynchronous sessions consisting of providing the student with material developed and handwritten by the lecturer that additionally contains comments and descriptions of the different theoretical concepts on the subject's syllabus, which are an ideal complement in the development of teaching sessions. Since the concepts developed in this subject are completely novel for the students and of considerable complexity, it has been considered that the best way to consolidate the concepts is to provide to the students those descriptions and comments that are fundamental for a correct understanding and understanding of all concepts.

At the same time, the student body has multimedia presentations for each topic that are provided at the beginning of their teaching.

A2 - Expository lessons in small group

Online

Regarding the practical sessions, since they are developed through the use of the finite element software Abaqus, a video tutorial will be provided to the students for each one of the sessions so that the students can take carry out a correct monitoring of them. Additionally, a guide will be provided describing in detail all the steps to be carried out for the execution of the different numerical simulations.

 2) ASSESSMENT SYSTEM

Ordinary call

The written test defined in the original teaching guide (with a weight of 65%), is replaced by a continuous assessment consisting of carrying out activities (problems/cases) together with carrying out a numerical analysis work using the software Abaqus. Thus, the weight of the activities (problems/cases) will correspond to 45%, while that of the numerical simulation work of 20%. The following table contains all the details regarding the evaluation system in the case of a non-attendance scenario:

ASPECT

CRITERIA

INSTRUMENT

WEIGHT

Theoretical concepts of matter.

Mastery of the theoretical-practical content.

Solving problems/cases. The continuous evaluation activities are intended to assess the knowledge and skills used by the student when facing and solving a problem or a case planned by the lecturer. The evaluation of these activities can be carried out in any of the two modalities, synchronous or asynchronous. In this way, on some occasions the resolution of a case or problem can be carried out by means of a synchronous activity, while on other occasions the resolution will require much more detailed work that will involve a previous study, data analysis and hypothesis construction, reason why it would have an asynchronous character. In this last modality (asynchronous), the lecturer may request the recording of a video by the student explaining the resolution carried out by the student.

Problems/cases have a mandatory character.
