4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The teaching methodology will consist of three types of activities:

  • Master classes in the classroom. In these classes the professor will explain the concepts discussed above. Likewise, exercises related to the subject will be solved.
  • Laboratory sessions: a total of five laboratory sessions of two hours each one will be carried out, four of them in the experimental laboratory of fluid mechanics and one final in the computer classroom. These will consist of a theoretical introduction, followed by the measurements of data by students. The students will later analyze the results, comparing them with the theoretical concepts studied and, finally, they will prepare an individual final report of each session.
  • The sessions of tutorials will consist of virtual non-face-to-face sessions of discussion and sharing of doubts of the students during the development of the works of the subject.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

An exam will be carried out to assess the student's ability to solve practical cases, as well as knowledge of key concepts related to incompressible fluid machines and their use in fluid installations. You must obtain a minimum grade in this written test to pass the subject. The competences evaluated through this aspect are the CB2R and CB5R.

The student must present along the course a set of proposed works, which detail the analytical calculations, formulas used and operation of the facilities / pumps / turbines analyzed. The ability to synthesize, write and clarify the document will be positively valued. The competences evaluated through this aspect are the CB2R, CB3R, CB4R, CT4 and CT6.

The student must have attended all lab sessions to be able to take the written test. A report will be delivered to the teacher, with which the competences CB3R, CEM6 and CT1 will be evaluated.

Students' aptitudes, class attendance and tutorials will be positively evaluated (competence CEM6).

The learning outcomes expected and evaluated through all these aspects are 33-37.

7. VIRTUAL / CLASSROOM TEACHING SCENARIO

1) METHODOLOGY AND ACTIVITIES

In general, in the multimodal or mixed scenario, the modality will be "50% rotating face-to-face". Classes will be taugh in the classromm to half of the students and broadcasted by videoconference to the subgroup of students who is not attending class that week. Practical lessons will be 100% face-to-face, while collective tutoral sessions may be 50% rotating or virtual face-to-face. Individual tutoring may be both in person and via videoconference.

The activities are summarized below together with the corresponding methodology:

Activities

Formative

Format (classroom / online) *

Teaching methodology Description

A1 - Classes

exhibits in great

group : 30 theory sessions on the contents of the program

Rotary classroom

Class schedule and class assigned to a part of the group and broadcastes by videoconference to the rest.

30 sessions of master classes (15 of one hour and 15 of two hours, in total 45 hours), carried out in the classroom and broadcasting by videoconference to the rest of the group. Periodic rotation of students.

  • M1 - Master classes
  • M2 - Theory exposition and general examples
  • M3 - Introductory activities
  • M4 - Conferences

A2 - Classes in

  • M11R - Exercise resolution
  • M12R - Presentations / exhibitions
  • M6R - Practical activities
  • M9R - Laboratories

A3- Group tutorials : 5 sessions

Supervision of works, Seminars, Debates, Clarification of doubts, Comments of individual works, Presentations / exhibitions. They may be carried out in person at 50%, broadcasting via videoconference to the rest, or virtually (synchronous or asynchronous) , depending on the specific activity to be carried out .

  • M14 - Supervision of directed works
  • M15 - Seminars

(*) The Center may establish a different attendance percentage depending on the number of students and capacity of the classroom / laboratory according to sanitary measures.

2) EVALUATION SYSTEM

The evaluation system contains the same aspects and percentages as the 100% face-to-face case, in order to give certainty to the students enrolled in the subject. This decision is reinforced by the fact that the training methodologies and activities will not undergo any change with respect to the 100% face-to-face case.

The final exam will be preferably face-to-face, whenever the sanitary circumstances allow it.

The detailed information of the evaluation is the same as in the face-to-face scenario.

In summary , both for the ordinary and extraordinary call , the evaluation system will be :

APPEARANCE

CRITERIA

INSTRUMENT

WEIGHT

Attendance and / or participation in face-to-face and / or virtual activities

Correct student intervention in class and tutoring.

Observation and notes of the teacher and the rest of the students.  Delivery of activities.

5.0%

10.0%

The qualification system will be governed by the provisions of RD 1125/2003 of September 5, which establishes the European credit system and the qualification system for official university degrees.

3) RESOURCES

The activities and the methodology do not undergo any modification, with the exception of the retransmission of the classes in the 50% face-to-face modality, in which the teaching would be carried out in part virtual (in its synchronous modality), with no variation in the 50 % presence. In this sense, the methodology would remain the same, that is, classes using presentations, whiteboards, seminars, etc. , but they would in turn be relayed through virtual sessions through Google Meet or some similar platform to the 50% of students in virtual format.

The practical sessions will be carried out in a 100% face-to-face format in the corresponding laboratory, so the resources are those used on a regular basis. If not possible due to health restrictions, they will be performed in "50% face-to face rotative" format .

8. VIRTUAL TEACHING SCENARIO

1) METHODOLOGY AND  ACTIVITIES

The activities do not undergo any change with respect to the 100% face-to-face case , except that they go into virtual mode.

2) EVALUATION SYSTEM

The evaluation system of the subject will be the same as that contemplated in the 100% face-to-face case and the mixed one, in order to give certainty to the students enrolled in the subject and according to what is established in the memory of the corresponding grade. This decision is reinforced by the fact that the training methodologies and activities will not undergo any change with respect to the 100% face-to-face case.

In this case, the exam will be done online.

The detailed information of the evaluation is the same as in the face-to-face and mixed scenario .

In summary, both for the ordinary and extraordinary call, the evaluation system will be:

3) RESOURCES

Although the training activities or the methodology have not undergone any modification, the teaching is carried out virtually (in its synchronous mode). In this sense, the methodology remains the same as in the face-to-face case: presentations, whiteboard, seminars, etc., but through virtual sessions on Gogle Meet or similar platforms.
