3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Unit 1. Introduction to finance

Unit 2. The time value of money. PACTICES: discount and accumulating exercises and calculation of TIN and APR.

Unit 3. Annuities. PRACTICES: annuities valuation exercises.

Unit 4. Loan operations. PRACTICES: loan amortization exercises and simulation of real financing cases.

Unit 5. Business investment and financing. PRACTICE: practical cases on the economic-financial structure of a company.

Unit 6. The financial structure of the company. PRACTICE: case studies on the different sources of financing, calculating the different cash flows.

Unit 7. The cost of capital of a financing project. PRACTICE: case studies on the different sources of financing, calculating the different cash flows. 

Unit 8. Investment evaluation. Decision criteria. PRACTICE: Practical cases on investment valuation and decision making based on the valuation criteria studied. Extra practice of preparing an investment-financing plan and assessing its viability.

 

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Theory classes will be developed by exposing the contents of the subject by the teacher, solving the doubts and questions that arise from the students during them. Likewise, it will be possible for the teacher to address questions to the students about the concepts that are being studied at all times in order to carry out the corresponding assessment of attendance and active participation in class.

The practical classes will be held in computer rooms, using the Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet program. The first sessions of practical classes will be devoted to the student's familiarization with the computer program, the rest being dedicated to solving the practices of the subject. As in the case of the theoretical classes, the teacher may direct the students to questions related to the concepts of the subject in order to evaluate the attendance and active participation in class section.

In addition, certain topics will be taught through the inverted class, in which the work of certain learning processes is transferred outside the classroom and uses class time, together with the teacher's experience, to facilitate and enhance other acquisition processes. and practice of knowledge within the classroom.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Attendance and / or participation in face-to-face and / or virtual activities = 10%. Evaluate:

  • Results: 21, 26, 28 and 8.
  • Competences: CB2R, CB3R, CB4R and CT4.

Theoretical concepts of the subject = 40%. Evaluate:

  • Results: 26 and 8.
  • Competences: CB2R, CB4R and COG2.

Completion of work, cases or exercises = 50% (40% practical exam and 10% continuous evaluation). Evaluate:

  • Results: 21, 26, 28 and 8.
  • Competences: CB2R, CB3R, CB4R, CB5R, COG2 and CT4.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

ORDINARY CALL

Attendance and/or participation in face-to-face and/or virtual calsses (10%).

Theoretic concepts (40%): for the ordinary exams (May-June), the student's knowledge on these concepts will be assessed by a final test. 

Practical skills (50%): for the ordinary exams (May-June), the student will take various exercises during the classes (10%), as well as the final exam (40%).

EXTRA-ORDINARY CALLS

For the extra-ordinary calls, there will be only one  final exam (100%): theoretic (50%) and practice (50%).

7. VIRTUAL / CLASSROOM TEACHING SCENARIO

1. TEACHING METHODOLOGY AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES

If the classroom capacity is sufficient for all enrolled students, so that the mandatory social distancing measures are respected, the classes will be face-to-face for 100% of the students.

If the classroom capacity is not enough:

A1 - Exhibition classes in large group

Class to all the students of the group in the assigned schedule and classroom.

A2 - Small group classes

Rotary face-to-face 50%

Class in the schedule and classroom assigned to a part of the group and videoconference broadcast to the rest, with periodic rotation of students, as determined by the Center. 

(*) The Center may establish a different attendance percentage depending on the number of students and capacity of the classroom / laboratory according to sanitary measures.

2. EVALUATION SYSTEM.

Regarding the final evaluation exam, it will be preferably face-to-face, respecting the sanitary distances and the capacity limitation.

In the event that it is not possible to carry out the final exam face-to-face, the evaluation system will be the same followed in case of face-to-face teaching, with some modifications:

ORDINARY CALL

a) Attendance and/or participation in face-to-face and/or virtual calsses (10%).

b) Theoretic concepts (40%): the evaluation will be carried out through continuous assesment with two virtual tests throughout the course.

c) Practical skills (50%): the evaluable practical activities (10%) will be delivered virtually and a virtual practical final exam (40%) will be carried out. 

EXTRAORDINARY CALLS

For the extra-ordinary calls, there will be only one   final exam (100%): theoretic (50%) and practice (50%), that will be carried out virtually. 

3. RESOURCES

To carry out the teaching and assessment activities mentioned above, it will be necessary to have the following resources:

a) Audiovisual retransmission system for theoretical and practical classes.

b) The students will need to have the computer and telecommunications means to be able to view the retransmitted classes, as well as solve the assessment tests and be able to record the corresponding videos.

c) Assessment exams, especially practical ones, will require the use of spreadsheets. In the event that the students do not have the required program, they will be able to access it through the virtual PCs of the University of Jaén.

d) Communication between faculty and students will be carried out using the systems used at the University of Jaén, in particular the University's virtual teaching platform and the Google suite.

c) During the assessments (theoretical tests and in the final exam), a parallel connection will be made through videoconference between the students and the teacher. Therefore, students must be provided with a webcam and and internet connection.

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. In order to avoid frauds while sitting the exam, the exam will be answered using a videoconference system, being able the academic staff of the University of Jaén to compare and contrast the image of the person who is answering the exam with the student's photographic files. Likewise, in order to provide the exam with evidential content for revisions or claims, in accordance with current regulation frameworks, the exam will be recorded and stored.

Legitimacy: compliance with legal obligations (Universities Law) and other national and regional regulations currently in force.

Addressees: service providers who are the owners of the platforms where the exams are carried out and with whom the University of Jaén has signed the corresponding data access contracts.

Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above. In the event that you consider that your rights have been violated, you may submit a complaint to the Andalusian Council for Transparency and Data Protection www.ctpdandalucia.es
