Viral protein and antigens analysis: immunoenzimatic test, immunofluorescence, western blot. 4. Genomic analysis: molecular hybridization in situ.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The course is structured in lectures concerning molecular biology of parasitic and viral diseases and practical sessions that involucrate the use molecular biology techniques in detection and characterization of such kind of organisms.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Attendance at 90% of seminars is required.

We evaluate the participation in class discussion; knowledge on molecular virology and parasitology topics and its applications, and quality and completion of one two presentation on different subjects.

7. VIRTUAL / CLASSROOM TEACHING SCENARIO

I.- TEACHING METHODOLOGY AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES

Theoretical teaching (24 hours). Aimed at a large group, will be taught electronically via videoconference with the Google Meet platform (or any other alternative platform determined by the Universidad de Jaén). The

continuous evaluation will also be carried out electronically, by conducting tests, delivering exercises and oral presentations in public session, using the ILIAS platform (or another determined by the Universidad de Jaén).

Practical teaching (6 hours). It will be carried out in person with reduced capacity. Each three-hour session (assuming a total of 20 enrolled students) will be divided into two one-and-a-half hour semi-sessions. The time allocated to the practices received by each student will be completed individually through the tutoring of the teachers assigned to them. The evaluation adjusts to the exposed previously for the theoretical teaching.

Training Activities

Format (classroom / online)

Teaching methodology Description

16 Sessions of online theoretical classes

In class room at 100%*

16 sessions of participatory master classes of one and a half hours each, held in the classroom. The conditions of the assigned classroom capacity do not require retransmission of these sessions (* only in the event that the number of enrolled students exceeds the capacity assigned to the classroom, the attendance would be reduced to 50% and in this case we would carry out the video broadcast- conference to the rest of the group as they are obliged to carry out the periodic rotation of students)..

2 practical sessions

In laboratory at 50%

Development of 2 practical sessions, lasting three hours each, applying rotation in reduced groups of 50%, in such a way that each subgroup remains in the laboratory for half the session. The rest of the practice was broadcast to the entire student body.

Online Tutoring

Online

All the tutoring sessions will be done online (synchronous and asynchronous)

II.- EVALUATION SYSTEM

The adapted evaluation system will be as follows:

- The exam on the theoretical concepts of the subject will be replaced by a series of short questionnaires (8-10 test and development questions) that will be made available to students, through the subject space on the ILIAS platform, at the end of each of the thematic blocks of theory. Students must take these tests on the ILIAS platform, with a deadline of seven days after the end of the theory block. Weight: 20%.

- Attendance and participation in the videoconferences forum and the ILIAS platform. Weight: 15%.

- Carrying out works, cases or practical exercises, as well as reviewing scientific articles. The works may be done in html, pdf or doc format, and may be delivered through the ILIAS platform on the designated dates. In certain cases the student must make a presentation of their work in PowerPoint format. Weight: 65%.

III.- RESOURCES

The computer resources provided by the University of Jaén will be used (ILIAS Virtual Teaching Platform, Videoconference through GoogleMeet, other applications in the Google environment: Docs, Slides, Calendar, Drive) in order to encourage student participation, as well as resources Electronic bibliographies available in the library of the Universidad de Jaén.

The teaching staff involved in teaching, reserves the right not to give consent for the capture, publication, retransmission or reproduction of their speech, image, voice and professorship explanations, in the exercise of their teaching functions, in the scope of the Universidad de Jaén.
