3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

 

Theoretical units.

Unit 1. Introduction to Environmental Education. Environmental Education (EE), Historical development of environmental education. Aims and objectives of the EE: Sustainable Development. Types of environmental education: E.E. formal (formal education), non-formal EE (informal education), EE in the field of business, E.E. in leisure time.

Unit 2. Ecosystem services and environmental issues. The environment as a system. The environmental paradigm. The major environmental problems. Analysis of environmental issues from EA

Unit 3. Basic methodological principles for environmental education:

Facing the challenge of environmental education: From understanding of environmental issues to the development of attitudes and pro-environmental behavior

Contributions of psychology: attitudes and behaviors promoting pro-environmental

The socio-ecological paradigm

Features of an effective intervention according to socio-ecological paradigm

Specific challenges of environmental education and methodological strategies to address them

The socio-scientific controversies in Environmental Education

Practical sessions.

Two field sessions (external) will be developed, with the purpose of visiting specialized centers on environmental education and also to attend different events related to the subject (conferences, congresses...)

Four computer sessions will be carried out: databases, bibliographic sources and Web sites related to the subject will be handled.

Several cabinet sessions will be carried out, aimed at developing dynamic teamwork, the delivery of team home works and also to create discussion forums. Environmental education materials (comics, movies or documentaries, games ...) will be assessed.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Lectures (2.4 cr ECTS): theoretical academic sessions with the support of ICT to facilitate teaching materials, references, internet addresses, through which the student can continue the work personally. This activity will allow to acquire skill CE-30.

Practices (mandatory) (2.4 ECTS): The different types of practices will be developed in the appropriate UJA facilities such as computer rooms and cabinets. Field practices will be held in external facilities allow students the contact with environmental education strategies in different social and / or educational stages. There will be working groups and students, with the support of the notebook, made for educational procedures and the development of the planned activities. The results will be analyzed and discussed globally in tutoring with the teacher. This activity will acquire the skills EC-30 and CT-23.

The seminars (1 ECTS) will allow the resolution of questions on subjects previously worked, and the groups of students will defend and exhibit their work on a topic of environmental interest. It will enable the achievement of competencies CT-3, CT-27 and CE-30.

Small group tutorial: (0.2 ECTS) allow the discussion on topics of interest on labor matters and the resolution of specific questions of matter. This activity will acquire all competitions mentioned before.

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Evaluation of theoretical training (50%): CT-3 and CT-30 Skils will be evaluated. The written test could be of short questions, answer questions multiple choice or development questions. The possibility of partial exams that could remove material may be considered by course.

Assessment of practical training (20%): There will be continuous assessment of attitudes and skills developed during the field, computer and cabinet practicess. Attendance at practical sessions is mandatory, as welll as the workbook delivery. CT-27 and EC-30 Skils will be evaluated.

Assistance is required at least 80% of the sessions to get 20% of the weight of the overall assessment, control of attendance by signature

Work in group (30%): The way of engaging with the other colleagues, equal sharing of work and group work strategies will be evaluated. It will also assess the oral presentation of the work. This section assesses all skills.

7. VIRTUAL / CLASSROOM TEACHING SCENARIO

1) Methodology

According to the Experimental Sciences Faculty, large group theoretical teaching will be taught on-line (100%) with synchronous classes with videoconference (24 sessions of 1 h).

Small seminary and computer groups (face-to-face 100%, to the extent that the assigned classrooms allow). Small laboratory groups will be carried out face-to-face 50% (except for changes in social and health circumstances that that allow an increase in face-to-face classes), the acquisition of minimum competences will be completed with multimedia material of their own creation or available on the network (16 sessions of 2 hours).

The individualized or grouped tutorials will be held via email or videoconference. (100%)

2) Assessment

Continuous assessment with i) delivery of assignments and tasks online (50%) and with ii) synchronous written test of short development questions (50%) using the applications supplied with the University of Jaén (https://www.ujaen.es/herramientas-para-la-docencia-y-la-evaluacion-virtual). Similar criteria for ordinary and extraordinary evaluation.

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above.
