3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Introduction to endocrinology. Applied endocrinology to the clinic and animal production.

Endocrinology of growth. Functional evaluation of growth. Growth disturbances.

Manipulation of the growth and composition of channels.

The thyroid gland. Functional evaluation. Thyroid disorders.

The adrenal gland. Functional evaluation. Adrenal disorders.

Mineral metabolism. Assessment of alterations in mineral metabolism.

The endocrine pancreas. Diabetes Mellitus.

Reproduction. Endocrinology of the male and female reproductive axis. Functional evaluation. Gonadal alterations.

Endocrine manipulation of reproduction in farm animals.

Pregnancy, childbirth and lactation. Functional evaluation. Endocrine disorders.

      Animal products.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Theoretical class (large group or teaching group): (3.8 ECTS) Methodology: lecture. Teachers' exposition of the contents of the thematic units of the subject, promoting the discussion and active participation of the students. Elaboration by the students of works on topics of interest related to the subject and their exposure to the rest of the group.

 

 

Group tutorials (very small groups): (0.2 ECTS). Methodology: Very small groups where students will raise and try to solve with the teacher those doubts and questions that have arisen during the rest of the training activities. The use of virtual means (platform for teaching) will be encouraged for the resolution of doubts and problems, as well as for student follow-up.

 

Practical classes (2.0 ECTS). Methodology: laboratory practices and practices in computer rooms. Elaboration by the students of works and reports based on the results obtained during the practical sessions.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

7. VIRTUAL / CLASSROOM TEACHING SCENARIO

1) Teaching methodology and training activities

Master Classes Large group 38 hours. 100% online Methodology: exposition of the thematic units.

Group tutoring. 2 hours . 100% online Methodology: Discussion and resolution of questions. Virtual means will be used: platform, email.

20 hours practices

Methodology: laboratory practices : 50% online, 50% face-to-face.  C omputer rooms: 100% face to face.

2) Assessment system

First call:

S1: Acquisition of theoretical knowledge (50% of the overall grade). It is necessary to obtain at least 50% of the maximum grade assigned to this section for the rest to be added. These written tests will be in person, if the health and capacity conditions are met, or online on the e-learning platform if these conditions are not met.

S2: Continuous evaluation (30% of the global grade): The acquisition of practical knowledge. It will be carried out through a test on the teletraining platform.

S3: Continuous evaluation (20% of the global grade): Through the delivery of works, their development and content will be assessed.

In the second call Acquisition of theoretical knowledge (100% of the overall grade).

8. VIRTUAL TEACHING SCENARIO

S2: Continuous evaluation (30% of the global grade): The acquisition of practical knowledge. It will be carried out through a test on the teletraining platform.

S3: Continuous evaluation (20% of the global grade): Through the delivery of works, their development and content will be assessed.

Addressees: service providers who are the owners of the platforms where the exams are carried out and with whom the University of Jaén has signed the corresponding data access contracts.

Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above. In the event that you consider that your rights have been violated, you may submit a complaint to the Andalusian Council for Transparency and Data Protection www.ctpdandalucia.es
