  4. The four skills: writing, reading, speaking and listening.

1.1. Questions and answers. Grammar ( question formation), vocabulary working out meaning from context), pronunciation (friendly intonation, showing interest. 
1.2. Do you believe in it? Grammar ( auxiliary verbs; the...the...+ comparatives ), vocabulary (compound adjecives, modifiers), pronunciation ( intonation and sentence rhythm). 
2.1. Call the doctor? Grammar ( present perfect simple and continuous), vocabulary (illnesses and injuries), pronunciation (sibilant sounds and /k/; word stress). 
2.2. Older and Wiser? Grammar ( using adjectives as nouns, adjective order present perfect simple and continuous), vocabulary (clothes and fashion), pronunciation (vowel sounds). 
3.1. The truth about air travel. Grammar (narrative tenses, past perfect continuous; so/such...that), vocabulary (air travel), pronunciation (regular and irregular past forms, sentence rhythm). 
3.2. Incredibly short stories. Grammar ( the position of adverbs and adverbial phrases), vocabulary (adverbs and adverbial phrases), pronunciation (word stress and intonation). 
4.1. Eco-guilt.. Grammar ( future perfect and future continuous), vocabulary (the environment, the weather), pronunciation ( vowel sounds).
4.2. Are you a risk taker? Grammar ( zero and first conditionals, future time clauses), vocabulary (expressions with take), pronunciation (sentence stress and rhythm).
5.1. The survivor's club. Grammar (unreal conditionals), vocabulary (feelings), pronunciation (word stress). 
5.2. It drives me mad! Grammar (structures after wish), vocabulary ( expressing feelings with verbs or -ed/-ing adjectives), pronunciation (sentence rhythm and intonation).

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Group classes: theory and practise.

Oral presentations.

  • Lecture (practice): 3 hours per week
  • Homework: 6 hours per week

N.B.: As the subject will be entirely taught in English, no distinction will be made between regular students and PATIE students as regards methodology.

N.B. (1): In order to pass the subject it will be necessary to get at least 5/10 considering all the assessment criteria above.

N.B. (2): as for the dates for the final exam, international students should note that, unless there are exceptional reasons, no alternative dates to the official ones will be offered to them, as they will be considered in exactly the same terms as the rest of the students. All official exams will take place in May-June (regular exams or "convocatoria ordinaria") and -if the student does not pass the subject- in June-July (extraordinary exams or "convocatoria extraordinaria").

7. VIRTUAL / CLASSROOM TEACHING SCENARIO

1. TEACHING METHODOLOGY AND TEACHING ACTIVITIES*

15 group lectures

Classes with the students’ physical presence up to 100% of the space provided.

There will be 15 physical theoretical group lectures in the classroom on theory, sanitary conditions and facilities permitting. If they do not, then these theoretical lectures will be given through video conference, synchronously, using GSuite Meet.

45 group practical sessions

Classes with the students’ physical presence up to 100% of the space provided.

There will be 45, 1 hour practical sessions, which will be given physically in the classroom sanitary conditions and facilities permitting. If they do not, then some sessions will be given synchronously through GSuite Meet and others asynchronously on the virtual platform, Ilias.

Tutorials

Physical presence and online

Tutorials will be at times with physical presence and at others online (both synchronous and asynchronous)

**It is taken for granted that if the number of students is below the limit allowed in the classroom allocated, all physical presence teaching will be 100%.

2.2. 2nd Sitting/resit*

The exam will be physical and will include both theoretical and practical contents of the subject up to 100% of the final mark. It will be 100% physical providing that both the sanitary conditions and facilities allow it to be.

  • 2.2. 2nd sitting/ Resit

La prueba de evaluación consistirá en un test online síncrono y/o asíncrono en el que se evaluarán los contenidos teóricos y prácticos de la asignatura cuyo peso será el 100% de la nota.

This will be a synchronous and / or asynchronous test in which both the theoretical and practical contents of the subject will be assessed. This exam will constitute 100% of the final mark.

 

 

DATA PROTECTION CLAUSE (on line exams)

Purpose: In accordance with the Universities Law and other national and regional regulations in force, carrying out exams and assessment tests corresponding to the courses students are registered in. In order to avoid frauds while sitting the exam, the exam will be answered using a videoconference system, being able the academic staff of the University of Jaén to compare and contrast the image of the person who is answering the exam with the student's photographic files. Legitimacy: compliance with legal obligations (Universities Law) and other national and regional regulations currently in force.

Addressees: service providers who are the owners of the platforms where the exams are carried out and with whom the University of Jaén has signed the corresponding data access contracts.

Storage periods: those established in current in force regulations. In the specific case of exam videoconference recordings, not before the examination records and transcripts are closed or the exam can still be reviewed or challenged.

Rights: you can exercise your right of access, amendment, cancellation, opposition, suppression, limitation and portability by sending a letter to the postal or electronic address indicated above. In the event that you consider that your rights have been violated, you may submit a complaint to the Andalusian Council for Transparency and Data Protection www.ctpdandalucia.es
