3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

UNIT: NURSING CARE PATIENT WITH ALTERATION OF ELIMINATION

Diseases affecting the intestinal elimination.

Assessment of intestinal elimination and nursing diagnoses.

Nursing interventions related to intestinal elimination problems.

Diseases affecting the urinary excretion.

Assessment of urinary excretion and nursing diagnoses.

Nursing interventions related to urinary elimination problems.

 

UNIT: NURSING CARE PATIENT WITH ALTERATION OF THE NEED FOR COMMUNICATION

Diseases affecting the need for communication.

Assessment of the need for communication and nursing diagnoses.

Nursing interventions related to communication problems.

 

NURSING CARE PATIENT WITH ALTERATION OF THE NEED FOR MOVEMENT

Diseases affecting the need for movement.

Assessment of movement and nursing diagnoses.

Nursing Interventions related to movement problems.

 

Laboratory practices

  • Care of patients with digestive and urinary ostomies
  • Urine sample collection and bladder catheterization.
  • Patient care with renal function substitution: hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
  • Neurological evaluation.
  • Clinical case of patient with cognitive alterations: elaboration and registration of the care plan in Diraya Hospital.
  • Nursing care for a patient with neurological alterations: advanced simulation.
  • Bandage application technique.
  • Immobilization with plaster and care of the upper extremity plaster patient.
  • Immobilization with plaster and care of patients with plaster of the lower extremity.
  • Clinical scenarios integrating care competencies: musculoskeletal, intestinal, urinary and neurological.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Large group exhibition classes: exhibition of contents with audio/visual media and active participation of students.

Small group classes: practical simulation workshops and work seminars (case studies).

Conducting guided learning activities. Tutorials.

Testing of knowledge and skills assessment.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Attendance and participation in classroom activities. 10%

Written test (examination) of knowledge: 50%

Online test: 20%

Attendance and active participation in seminars and workshops in small groups: 20%

 

Attendance at ALL practical classes or seminars is mandatory. Missing more than 10% of the practical classes requires passing a special practical skills assessment test.

The knowledge assessment test must be overcome to consider the weight of the other aspects including the assessment of the subject.
