In this subject, the faculty is faced with the task of imparting a course on the considered classic themes of social anthropology for university students who are starting in this discipline.

During the course will provide a basic and comprehensive view of the classic or traditional subjects of this discipline, thus fulfilling the objectives assigned to the subject in the Social Work curriculum. We will refer next to the reasons that support the teaching of a subject of this type. There are several reasons of pedagogical nature, related to the intellectual formation that should receive any future social worker. The study of the traditional themes of social anthropology allows:

- Provide the basic general knowledge needed to be able to go deeper into a more specialized social anthropology focused on issues directly linked to Social Work, such as those related to the problem of social marginalization / exclusion.

- Contribute to the irrefutable and necessary general training in social sciences that every social worker must have, since the social sciences provide the social worker with the necessary understanding of the social reality in which he acts, as well as the methodological and technical instruments for the scientific approach (See E. Ander-Egg, Training for Social Work, Humanitas, Buenos Aires, 1987, p.108).

- Contribute to the conformation and enrichment of the general vision of the world of the future social worker: in order to be liberating, university education, besides the professional and specific training, must have as one of its objectives to ensure the acquisition of a general culture (Ander-Egg, 1987: 107). In addition to the study of contemporary problems and methods of social work, the professional of social work must be formed permanently in aspects of general culture and, more concretely, of human sciences (Ander-Egg, 1987: 164). From this perspective, the delivery of classical themes of social anthropology is justified as a contribution to the general culture of social workers; Culture that they must cultivate irrecusably. Within this general culture, and in a more specific way, it is necessary to have a humanist culture, understood not so much as the study of "the humanities", but rather "as a culture that provides an approach to man and to all Their problems "(Ander-Egg, 1987: 166). And this is precisely and in short, the role of Anthropology. Social workers "need to get used to the knowledge and points of view that academic disciplines can give them in relation to human nature and society." (National Institute for Social Work, Narcea, Madrid, 2nd ed., 1995, p.339).

- Contribute to the formation of the student's personality, values ​​and attitudes: a liberating education has in the "learning to be", in the development of the student's personality, one of its general objectives (Ander-Egg 1987: 103-104). In this development of the student's personality, the teacher must respect the student's freedom, autonomy and differences from the attempt to impose his models and values. The anthropological study of exotic societies forms in cultural respect, in the loss of ethnocentrism, in the de-reification of realities and social phenomena, in the global, evolutionary and comparative understanding of cultural systems.

- Show in depth how cultural systems can be understood and analyzed in a "scientific" way, from cultural materialism; To introduce in the materialistic analysis of social realities and cultural phenomena.

Thanks to the above, a course of initiation to the anthropological discipline will be formed with a marked character oriented to Social Work.

Throughout the development of the subject, through the methodology and activities designed, will seek to achieve established learning outcomes:
 
The expository classes in a large group: they are intended to expose the theoretical concepts of the different topics raised in this course within the context of anthropological discipline and the study of culture - and its different dimensions - to achieve learning outcomes ANT SOC1 , ANT SOC2, ANT SOC4.
 
The classes in groups of practices: will be dedicated to training in the performance of ethnographic research, under the parameters of organizational group work and exhibition, to approach the social work intervention groups and learning outcomes ANT SOC1, ANT SOC4, ANT SOC5, ANT SOC7.
 
The collective / individual tutorials: will seek the performance of the development of a critical vision and the exercise of the reflexive reading to achieve learning results ANT SOC3, ANT SOC6, ANT SOC7.

The evaluation of the subject is linked to the learning outcomes proposed according to the previous methodology and activities, depending on the following item differentiation:
 
The 10% that corresponds to the control of attendance to class, activities formulated through the tool of Virtual Teaching and score of the realized expositions, aims to achieve the learning results ANT SOC3, ANT SOC6, ANT SOC7.
 
The 80% resulting from the examination of questions of medium, short or test development, will try to reach the learning results ANT SOC1, ANT SOC2, ANT SOC4.
 
The 10% that collects the research work carried out will reflect the learning results ANT SOC1, ANT SOC4, ANT SOC5, ANT SOC7.
 
It is important to note that in order to be able to add 20% of the other evaluation indicators to the resulting score in the 80% corresponding to the exam, it will be necessary to approve the exam (obtaining at least 4 in the exam - 50% of the grade Maximum of this item).
Also, in case of suspending the exam, this 20% will be saved for other calls of this academic year, not for later courses.
 
Participation in other academic activities and / or teaching innovation projects proposed to students during the development of the subject may be appreciated in an extraordinary way.
