4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Students will have available educational material on the virtual teaching platform of de University of Jaén. They will also have tutorial support from the teaching staff to perform the learning task. The course is organized in three parts, theory, practice and assignments:

  • The theory is taught through master classes and seminars, including sessions, seminars and resolution of  doubts. This activity allows students to acquire the skills of the subject.
  • The practical part will be held in groups (up to four students) in the computer lab, where the teacher will explain the contents of each practice. The groups will develop the tasks. This activity allows students to
    acquire the skills of the subject.
  • The assignments will be developed by the students related to one of the proposed topics. This activity allows students to acquire the skills of the subject.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

According to article 13 of the Regulation of Academic Regime and Evaluation of the students of the University of Jaén, the evaluation will be global.

Evaluation consists of 4 elements: teoretical knowledge, practical knowledge, assignments and participation,
with the following weights:

  • Teoretical examn: 20%
  • Practices: 30%
  • Assingment: 30%
  • Participation: 20 %


To pass the subject: 1.- the student must obtain a minimum score of 5 (out of 10) by adding each of the parts according to their percentages and 2.- the student must obtain a minimum of 4 points in each of the parts.

The criteria used in the evaluation are the following ones:

  •  Teoretical concepts: Written exam. This allows to evaluate competences of the subject.
  • Computer practices: Practice reports. This allows to evaluate competences of the subject.
  • Assignments: Delivery and mandatory presentation of assignments, considering the structure, content and innovation. This allows to evaluate competences of the subject.
  • Participation: Observation and teacher's notes. In order to assess this section, student may do some exercises in classes

The mark obtained by the student during the academic year, both in practice, assignments and class participation, will be retained for the extraordinary examination sessions.
