3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

The course is focused on the touristic services linked with the Archaeological Heritage. We will give you basic notions about the theory and methodology applied at the archaeological science trying to provide significant interpretations of the historical heritage. The course included topics such as traditional and open museums, the relationship between culture and society, risk factors and archaeological public exhibitions, new opportunities to enjoy the archaeological heritage, laws and preserved measures of the public heritage.

FIRST PART: Tourism and archaeological heritage.

-Archaeological heritage and public exhibition.

-The heritage approach to the archaeology.

-The origin and historical perspective of the cultural tourism.

SECOND PART. Knowledge and interpretation of the archaeological heritage.

-Science and archaeological speech.

-Scientific interpretation of the archaeological heritage.

-Historical references about the archaeological heritage.

THIRD PART. Public exhibition of the Andalusian archaeological heritage.

-State of art of the Andalusian heritage.

-Opportunities for the Andalusian archaeological heritage.

-The archaeological heritage at the province of Jaén.

FOURTH PART. Public exhibition of the Spanish archaeological heritage.

-Spanish´s institutions.

-Relevant archaeological sites.

-Programs of public diffusion and touristic benefits.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

One topic will be taught each week. The teacher provide the students materials about the contents of each topic that we will debate together at class. The written documents can be downloaded from the virtual platform of the University of Jaén.

The students must write a short text (just one page) about the specific topic of the week and give it to the teacher at the first session of each week. Also, the students must show publically an individual and a collective work once before the end of the term.

Also, the students must participate in three practical activities and visit a museum and an archaeological area to understand the theoretical aspects involve in the program.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

All the classroom activities will be controlled by an attendance list.

Teacher will take account the active attitude of the students in the different activities.

The last three weeks are focused on the public presentation of the collective works. The Power Point of the individual and collective presentations must be uploaded at the available virtual platform of the University of Jaén before the day of the presentation. It is not possible to read during the public presentation.

The theoretical exam will have several parts, including multi-answering and short questions. It´s necessary to pass the exam to evaluate the other activities.
