The main objective of this course is to gain knowledge and
understanding of the process of internationalization -
globalization - of the national economies, the different industrial
segments and the enterprises. We will identify the factors that
have shaped the current
âââ¬Åâglobal
economyâââ¬ÂÂ,
pointing out both the advantages and the potential threats and
dangers, which affect economic agents in all countries, both at the
macro- and the micro-economic level.
A simple but solid theoretical framework for the study of
international trade and international finance will be provided,
revising the main theories currently been used. We will also
discuss to what extent the current process of
âââ¬Åâglobalizationâââ¬ÂÂ
and the
âââ¬Åâinformation
revolutionâââ¬ÂÂ
modify the classical models and explanations of the dynamics of the
world economy, and the national economies, with particular
reference to Europe and Spain.
We will then centre on how firms gain access to the world
markets, the different modes of entry, and whether any
âââ¬Åâlocal
enterpriseâââ¬ÂÂ
can become a
âââ¬Åâglobal
corporationâââ¬ÂÂ.
The different legal and financial instruments available to firms
for export promotion and joint-ventures with foreign companies will
be revised.
Finally, we will study the dynamics and the pattern of the âââ¬Åâglobalizationâââ¬Â upon Spain, with a particular emphasis on the Andalusian economy.
