3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

The contents of this subject are designed to provide students with advanced training and practical experience of the molecular processes and mechanisms of aging neurodegenerative diseases as well as to address the cellular and pharmacological therapies for their treatment.

 

 

Physiological and pathological aging. Diseases associated with brain aging and Neurodegeneration Genetic bases of aging and longevity. Main causes of aging, degeneration and cell death. Apoptosis and necrosis in neurodegenerative diseases. Nitric oxide and oxidative stress in aging. Role of antioxidant systems in aging. Cell therapy in neurodegenerative diseases.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

This subject is designed  to provide an advanced and practical training of the molecular processes and mechanisms of aging and neurodegenerative diseases as well as to know the potential cellular and pharmacological therapies for its treatment. The subject pursues all this through the acquisition of the competencies indicated through the faculty expositions, invited researchers, practices and seminars.

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The
adequate acquisition of the competences will be valued,

as well as the active participation of the students in the group activities,
practices and theory classes. The use of appropriate language as well as
the handling of the bibliography will be taken into account.
