- The semiotics of theatre and drama: a. The dramatic sign.
b. Dramatic and theatrical discourse. - The origins of drama: a. Ancient Greece. b. English medieval drama. c. Elizabethan and Jacobean dram
- A historical survey of Shakespearean drama: Tragedies, Comedies, Histories, Romances.
- Textual and theatrical analysis: Othello and The Merchant of Venice.
- Performance: translation, production, staging. Othello and The Merchant of Venice.
Specific online methodology will be applied. Activities will deal with the study of online material (videos, glosaries etc...), plus the close reading of plays, written asignments and online discusion with lecturers and peers.
Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support
Students will be required to provide meaningful contributions to the threads of discussion with peers and lecturers. They will also have to produce an esay, supervised by the lecturers, and based on the plays examined, the bibliograpgy recommended, and the material provided by the lecturers in the virtual platform.
