5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The evaluation of the students' theoretical knowledge and practical training will be based on three criteria:

  • 10% of the total mark will correspond to their active participation in class (oral contributions, doing exercises, reading appropriate bibliographical references, etc.).
  • 20% of the total mark will correspond to the submission of the required assignments.

[ Note 1: Plagiarism will involve automatically failing the course]

[ Note 2: The marks obtained from participation and assignments will only be valid for the current academic year (2019/2020)]

  • 70% of the total mark will correspond to the quality of the final exam taken by the students. They will only pass this exam provided that they get at least half of the marks in the exercises concerned with the theoretical aspects of the course (A). In addition, they must pass one of the remaining blocks (B or C) and get at least half of the marks in the exam.

The exam paper will be intended to test the student's theoretical knowledge and practical understanding of the syllabus. Consequently, it will consist of the following:
- A) Theoretical concepts: Questions on the contents of the notes and the bibliographical references: multiple-choice exercises and
definitions with examples of basic grammatical concepts.
- B) Grammatical test, including exercises of the type done in class.
- C) Morphological and syntactic analysis.

Students will be expected to express themselves correctly in both oral and written English.
